ikan
hi, i am thinking of using aluminium or thin metal sheet for my breeding tank, would rust harm the fishes? also thinking of decoration on of my tanks with a "rusty" tin can! ryanjury
aluminium wont rust thats why they use it for boats and the like..
davidb
haha na aluminium corrodes like crazy... luckily aluminium oxide is very hard so you should be sweet... Al. oxide is that grey goating you get on aluminium which stops it from being shiny.... i don't know why you would use it in a breeding tank though rather than persplex or plastic
ryanjury
Yeah but it wont rust The oxide layer forms very fast and protects it.. I would be more inclined to use stainless grill as you can still get water flow..
davidb
steve took this shot in Aussie- they have used persplex I think- this is for reef fish tough but something similar would work
ikan
... i don't know why you would use it in a breeding tank though rather than persplex or plastic just that i have some tin pieces at hand and a handy tin snip! GZ_Loach
rust is iron, would be good for the plants but too much may hurt the fish plus stain the water
