Fred
Hello there, whenever i pick up fish from somones house or read posts here about peoples new fish i always wonder where do they get their africans from. Ive got kenyi electric yellow red zebs blue zebs lumphead and maybe a few more but i rarely see on trademe or in petstores anything more exotic than that
ryanjury
Most people get them off people they know, its not what you know its who you know, I haven't brought many of my good fish from shops.. Alot of them are on the lists and therefore shops but not for very long so its just luck if you get them or not, you can always try and get friendly with your local petshop (or in your case go see Ben at hutt pets he seems like a good sort) and ask him to let you know about anything flash and order it in for you.. Fred
yea Ben seems like a good guy he even gave me an order list to keep so i could have a gander at it once, even had the cost prices so not any piece of paper
Afrikan
There are alot on lists that don't make it into some shops... Definately pays to ask your LFS person whats available
Afrikan
There is some great stuff out there, we have obtained stock from breeders and alot of our stock has originated from ordering them through LFS, and if you do, make sure you pick them up bagged, so theres no mixing of sorts, especially Peacock species if you get any of those.. Fred
yea it would seem to be that 'special' order through LFS is probably easiest, and looks like postage cost is going to start becoming just part of the cost of fish then
Fred
Theres sooooo much out there that i am sure i dont even know half of the available ones in nz. I am hoping to have a fairly diverse collection so chances are that if it is not something i currently have as long as it will get along in the same tank that i will probably look at getting it at one stage. Fred
Got two tanks commited to cichlids. Ones a 7footer (750L) and the others a 4footer (240L). The fish in the large tank range from 2cm to fully grown keny breeding pair. And a few large parrot cichlids. The 4footer is there with a cornered off section for fry and the rest for small fish, i realise as i get more adults i will probably hve to move the small ones to the 4footer or put them for sale to help fund the purchase of some more adults. But as it stands i have space for young and old
