xfactor
Hi. I'm making my first tank and wanted to put a stand pipe in it. The website for the durso looks pretty good, but still seems like it will take me a while to get right. Are they hard to make? Or can someone in Auckland whip one up for a small fee or something? Thanks
suphew
Just make it your self they are dead easy, but I agree the diagram on www.durso.com is a little hard to follow. if you can go have a look at someones and you will see how easy they are. xfactor
Ok cool. Except I am the only fish keeper I know... I'll go to a plumbing shop and show them the diagram. I think the imperial measurements are my biggest throw off. ...anyone have an durso I can see in Auckland?
suphew
Post in the Seawater forum, a lot of marine keepers don't read this forum. There are plently of people in Akl with durso's
tee-em
I flagged the durso and went full siphon with a second smaller pipe as backup/overflow. I am really happy as it is dead quiet, only tricky thing is getting the balance right for your return. So I recommend having a valve that can do fine adjustments on your overflow and a T section on your return with another vlave to spill excess back into your sump so not to restrict pump. I aimed for about 50-70 mm water height in overflow weir for the height of my siphon pipe and it worked perfectly..
Ira
I dunno, how hard is it to glue a couple pieces of plastic together?
Rockerpeller
i have a semi setup 3ft tank with a durso (just needs the glass chamber its in to finish it off). might have a bit of piping around here somewhere as well.
xfactor
I dunno, how hard is it to glue a couple pieces of plastic together? I think the challenge will be purchasing and glueing together the correct peices of plastic. If I take a diagram from the durso website into a plumbing shop will that see me right? I think once I have all the parts putting it together should be self explanatory.
suphew
The only parts you need are as follows 1 x 'T' 1 x '90 degree bend' pipe end cap reducer (the durso needs to be larger diameter than your bulk head) what ever you need to connect it to your bulk head. Someone chip in if I have forgotton anything. Also don't bother glueing it, you dont need to and it will be easier to change/adjust if its not glued
