Rufusoz
Hi guys, I'm moving back to Auckland soon after many years spent over the ditch in Australia. I'd like to continue my reef hobbying, and would like to ask: (1) If anyone can recommend a good tank builder in Auckland. I would like a 6ft x 2.5ft high x 2.5 ft wide, with external weir, and a 4ft sump. Plus a nice cabinet. (2) Does any deliver NSW on a regular basis? If so, how much does it cost? (3) Where does everyone get their live rock, corals, inverts and corals from? Are marine fish such as purple tangs, blueface angels, emperors, long finned gobies available in NZ? What about inverts such as sand sifting starfish, brittlestars, clams etc? Any help would be appreciated. thanks, Bevin.
xfactor
I just registered and haven't even made a tank, but I'm up late and can answer a couple of those I think, so what the hey... (1) This is a link for a guy on this site who makes tanks. I got a quote off him today and was really impressed. And people report he does top quality work too. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/tanks-made-to-order-vp64319.html#64319 (2) errr... (3) I am also keen to know where some live rock is. People occassionally put 10-20kg of it in the trade forum and it goes straight away. In my limited experience I can at least tell you marine fish are available. I have seen purple tangs and blue face angels in the stores.
Ira
Yeah, there is a NSW delivery about twice a day. It's free, delivered by a guy named Ti Dalforces and his partner Sandy Beach.

Lol, Ira Most of the people on these boards collect their own, or use ASW. Some have some trailer/pump setups - you could possibly 'bribe' one of them to get you some? Which part of Jaffaland (Auckland) are you looking at moving to?
Rufusoz
Yeah, I know Ti. Nice guy but often prone to high and low mood swings... Looking at moving to One Tree Hill / Epsom area. Cheers.
HelifaxNZ
Yes would highly recommend Greg http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/tanks-made-to-order-vp64319.html#64319 Jetskisteve sometimes have live rock. PM him. Most fish and inverts can be bought here. Auckland is soo close to the ocean, people just buy big barrels and pump the water in there on high tide. Have not heard of anyone delivering NSW. Welcome back to Jafaland!

rossco
Looking at moving to One Tree Hill / Epsom area. Geez Craig he might not have enough money left after buying your tank  - but I hear their property market did better than ours!
Duke
My tank was built by Greg and I found his work excellent and well priced. Much cheaper than going through a LFS. Yes I would highly recommend Greg.
Rufusoz
Cracker - a great looking tank. But I like the enjoyment of setting my own tank up! Thanks for the recommendation on the tank builder guys. I'll drop him a line. Re: the Aussie property market. What happened to Auckland? 550k average house price is nothing to laugh at!!
