Afrikan
Sponge filters are awesome, would never be without them
alanmin4304
I just use a couple of ramshorn snails per tank to eat excess food and they also make the waste easier to siphon out a couple of times a week with good water changes daily. davidb
i use the elite ones on my tadpole tanks. they are not as good as ye-ol' ugf but are way easier to just chuck in. If you have messy animals the filter wool will need wrinsing once a week or so, other than that... nothing. repace the wool once a month or so. Billaney
I run sponge filters in about 30+ of my tanks and they are THE best for fry , not only do they keep the water clean but pull all the "good food" for the fry to one place for the fry to feed off. quack
im using sponge filters in two of my fry tanks and in another fry tank im using a spare hob filter with a sponge on the intake bit of it. i find that all three tanks remain clear, but the fish in the tank with the hob filter seem to grow far faster than the others. all the tanks have java moss and the same size
