wagonman
so the best way to do it would be to take 50% water out of new tank and top it up with the water out of my old tank and then chuck the fish in and it will be all sweet yeah? sharn
my bad  i thought you were asking if the readings on an existing tank were fine  the new tank probably hasnt started its cycle yet. water doesnt actually hold much beneficial bacteria but it wont hurt to move 50% over- your existing tank will love the big w/c! if you can take some of the media out of your exisiting filters that will help greatly along with the substrate if you are using the same types. once you have the seeded filter running start moving the fish over slowly, perhaps a couple of fish a week and feed lightly. moniter the levels just incase and everything should go fine
smidey
when I set up a new 200L tank, I added the internal filter from my original 1 1/2 foot tank for a couple of days & half the water from the small tank. I took a plunge & added 5 of my 10 fish on the 3rd day. The next day i couldn't stand it any more & added the remaining fish. I did not loose any fish at all & 6 months later I have only lost one or two, but that was due to getting stuck in the filter & a fight. wagonman
i have u/g filters in my old tank so i cant add them to my new tank, i added 2 neons the day after i set up my new tank and they are still alive so i think i will dump the other 10 in on saturday and hope for the best. i'll just chuck as much of my water (about 80lts) from old tank into the new one when i do it. Wok
another way to speed up the process is to chuck in half the water from your old tank into your new tank and some gravel as well if it is the same
