Cherie
Hi, my bristle nose have hatched some eggs. What do I feed the fry or do they fend for themselves. :bounce:
evilknieval69
Hi. Put some cucumber or zuchini into the tank beside the babys once they have consumed their egg sacks (usualy after 1 week). You need to put some sort of weight in the food so it sinks. I have used old plant weight in the past. Replace the food after each day as it will go off.
Cherie
Hi thanks for that. I wasnt expecting to breed so fast. Had 2 girls and got a boy about 3 weeks ago, put in a container a week later for them hopefully to lay there eggs in and before I knew it the male was in there looking after the eggs. Devon
Make sure theres wood in the tank(for fibre) and i feed mine. JBL pleco chips and shrimp pellets. I feed mine blanched zuccini because im told they digest it easier.
fishboi
i find JBL pleco chips absolutely rubbish and most of them dont sink. does anyone else have this problem?
evilknieval69
I have only ever bought one pottle of pleco chips, im not sure which ones they were but it was a few years ago when i first started. My plecs never ate them, and they just rotted away, so i havent fed them since.... I just put cucmber in every now and then, make sure theres wood in the tank, and they get lots of novo-bits sitting on the bottom which they love..... sharn
i have the JBL chips, most of them sink but some of them dont so i let them soak for a bit then squeeze them and that seems to do the trick.
HandS
Hahaha, good to see the boy doing his job I feed them boiled zucchini, they seem to grow allot faster. Slice it, then lightly boil it, then lay the pieces out on a oven tray to freeze. Once frozen we just put it in freezer bags, saves boiling or blanching every time you want to feed the fry. Afrikan
It's funny because JBL pleco chips are the ones that my plecs prefer... the odd one takes its time to sink but doesn't take long.. Mekhaela
