Fishkeepa
Heya Everyone I recently have added some JBL balls to my tank under the main plants. THe polysperma was lookin a bit yellow but it turned greeen for about three days and produced new leaves but then it went back to producing yellow leaves. I am wondering whether i should try some liquid ferts as i was wondering whether plants that we make cuttings of take in nutrients better through water than through their roots. Does anyone know anything about this? thanks :bounce:
sharn
i was told stem plants do take more nutrients out of the water itself so i would think liquid ferts would be worth a shot
alanmin4304
There is a verigated H. polysperma, are you sure that is not what you have?
Fishkeepa
It was sold to me as hygrophylia polysperma. I think it is more of a nutrient deficieny as the leaves all change colour rather than some parts of the plant being diferent. I have half dosed some liquid ferts - i dont want to become overun with algae Thanks for your help :bounce:
Luke*
Most plants will use some of each, but will have a majority bent towards one or the other. Sounds like your plants are lacking in magnesium, the central atom of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight (or in our case artificial light) and is the molecule that makes green plants green. I make fertiliser that gives this to plants in a readily available form.
