Krama
Has anyone tried the clear shrimp found in the rock pools? I would have thought they would have made a safe clean up crew for the tank. Any thoughts

suphew
I have kept them as have many others, often when a tank has been newly setup to help cycle and as a clean up. Not many of them live for long, and the ones that do don't usually last more than 6 months or so. It helps if you acclimatise them slowly. goby1
i have found and seen my percula clowns eating them and if you get them out of a warm rock pool they seem to be fine temp wise. I also feed them to my btas and they love them.
steve-s
if you get them out of a warm rock pool they seem to be fine temp wise. Im sorry Goby1, I dont mean to poke fun but surely even the warmest rock pool will be exposed to cold ocean water at high tide. Cheers, Steve
goby1
sweet steve s thats what i thought yet a tropical marine breeder who i trust implicitly told me this and yes i do collect them from the rock pools at the base of Mount Maunganui and i float for about 15min to aclimatise to my water quality. Then they are tipped straight in and i have had them in there for up to 8 months. cheers.
