The males of most livebearers that have longer them normal fins tend to have issues when the gonapodium (sp) is also elongated.

EDIT

Due to it's length and often it's twisted shape, it is impossible to use.

I have read(can't remember where tho)that it is possible to surgically shorten it.

Don't know how or if this would work.

I'd go with crossing back with the same colour and short fin then selecting the line you are after.

I dare say that there could be normal gonopodiums to be found amonst these offspring that may be able to be bred back with the mother, or sister.

I brought two in whangarei when I was up there 2 weeks ago, the first one died the first night and the second one died on the trip down, they were the only deaths so i wouldn't try them again. was the biggest waste of 30 dollars ever haha.

Anyway back to the point I was talking to the lady in the pet shop about them having babies and she said they are always breeding in the display tank and showed me a couple babies so I guess its not impossible.

GOOD LUCK!!!
