LOL! I saw the title of this thread & thought "cool, some straightforward answers on what I need to set up my first saltwalter tank." All I got was a headache... buggar! A list of equipment within certain budgets would be extremely helpful to beginners like me though. Is this still going to happen, or have peoples pride been dented too much? A shame really.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.
lduncan: How do you mean it was expensive to move? What were the costs? Also, when you used a 2nd tank, did you use all new water or use 50% of old water? What was the order, i.e. move water, then corals, finally fish? Thanks.
Really? Buggar. I'm not sure they could afford another tank. I think its 4-5 feet. We purchased a 5 foot tank a few months ago & transferred about 50-60% of the established water in it in big rubbish bins (along with the fish) to make the move easier on the fish. But they were tropical & I'd imagine live corals etc. would be more sensitive to change. Hmm... any other suggestions? Thanks.

Cool. Good advice. BTW, sorry for my earlier 'flare up'. I really do want to learn. Unfortunately I've come across some pretty mean people in forums who chastise you for not knowing everything right off the bat! My apologies if this was not your intention.
OK. Jeez, excuse me for not being fluent in marine talk! No worries, plenty of other places to get info. I wasn't aware I needed to read a book first in order to post here.
Hi there,
Can anyone recommend a good place to start on how to go about setting up a marine tank? Kept tropicals for years, but marine seems foreign to me - sumps, protein skimmers, NSW..?? what?? See, I need help. Thanks.
