  1. Those fittings are really easy to wire up. I did mine myself. But had some guidance. A sparky mate of my brother "strongly advised" purchasing an RCD. Sound advise I thought...
  2. I have got 4x30Watt, T8 (i think? just the standard ones) Two of them are "cool whites" the others are called "biolux" which is an osram tube. I think tho the biolux might be a little high in the "green". Initially had some some black hair algae - but a double dose of Flourish excel sorted that real quick! Altho not sure if that was related to lights? Still having a few issues with brown on the plants, but things look to be coming right.
  3. HI Waren, Nice tank!! What fertilizer(s) do you use??
  4. Here are some pics of my tank.... Plants & Fish. So many forums - were to post :-? http://photobucket.com/albums/v626/DiverJohn
  5. Hi Fay, Nice looking Tank. Question tho... In the last (bottom) pic the plant has brown spots on it. Do you know what causes it? How to avoid it? I had a similar spots on a similar looking plant I purchased from the LFS. The spots started to develop with 2-3 days of going in to my tank, eventually the leaf looked really bad so i cut the whole stem ( approx 6" long) and removed it. I am now getting some nice new stems with new leaves ( about 6 weeks later) but would like to avoid it happening again. Any ideas?? Anybody?
  6. Hi everyone, Spose i better come clean. Been lurking around here for a while reading up on fish and plants (lots on plants!) and decided i had better sign up and say gidday! About 6 months ago I bought a second hand tank ( with fish) off trade me. Did lots of reading up on it before i purchased and it turns out I must have done something right. Using two stationwagons I transported 1x 1.1m tank, approx 250l water, Ehiem series1 Pro Filter, 2 "quite large" silver sharks, an angel fish, a (gold spot?)pleco, and some Harliquins and had no real problems. (touch driftwood!) Currently I am trying to get plants to grow. I think I am doing OK, my Hygro has bubbles under the leaves, the sword like thing in the back is growing some nice new leaves, and the weeds- opps Cambomba (sp?) are growng steady too. I think my gardener - the pleco - has got to go. We have a diference of opinion over the plants. I think they should be in the gravel, but he (she?) seems to think they look MUCH better floating. Anyway, thats a bit about me and my tank, I guess you'll want pics next!! John
