Yeah i suppose it wouldnt come in very frequently as it seems like it mostly grows from fairly large chunks. Plus its not that hardy so it wouldnt hang around like caulerpa

Hmm yeah I haven't heard much about it either. But if you search it on this website or NZMAS there's some old posts about people having it, mind you these are mostly 5-10 years ago. I was thinking some people might still have some around

Halimeda isn't really considered by any one to be a pest as far as I know, if it was a pest then wouldn't it be in lots of peoples tanks? It's a calcifying algae so it needs calcium and carbonate dosing to survive, as well as high light. It grows slowly compared to other algae and completely stops growing at 20°C so it doesn't have a chance of becoming introduced to NZ waters. Some hobbyists think of all algae as pests but I think macroalgae is beautiful in its own right!

Any one kept any Halimeda here in NZ? I want some for a planted marine tank. I've heard of some people having it in their tanks as a result of hitchhiking in on frag discs etc. Seems to be hard to come across though!
