Gave mine to my son when I got the second marine tank just to much work I miss it but then I just have to visit my son to see how it's going

Oh my I didn't know he was going to put it in the Herald, that is why I didn't know what you were on about. No it isn't my photo only my fish taken by Kenny Rodger we were giving the Herald info on the Waikato River and the camera man was very interested in my clowns :lol: he sent me a copy of the photo I sell Heralds don't forget

Yes going to give one a go waiting for them to come in. Just new at this sps thing and I read somewhere that they should be fed everyday just not sure what I should be feeding them every day :lol: e.g. the fish get fed dry one day frozen next (what about the corals) do they eat what the fish eat? I have been doing the coral food thing every night so must be to much for the system. I was feeding Cyclop-eeze every day as well. Waiting on the nitrate reactor thingy Watching what the fish (but I have big fish and get stressed if they don't get enough.) I have stopped feeding the corals everyday until I get a result. Feeding Cyclop-eeze only now and then. Have cut the ca down to 450 but mag is still 1500 waiting for it to drop Do you think this is ok and any other suggestion would be great!!

So things like reef booster / Pohl's Coral Vitalizer / Reefstar will add to the nitrates is that what you are saying. So will the sps feed off the Nitrate or will they get hungry.?

I have been running calcium at 500 dropping to 450 mag 1500 dropping to 1400ish kh 12 dropping 9.7 add 14 tsps b/soda every second day One thing I did try was heavy feeding of corals at night have stopped know feeding altogether working on the nitrates. question: if I have high nitrates should I feed the corals at night?

Cool!! I have some of those rock flower anemones and one has just had a baby

Don't see much of mine will come out sometimes but mainly spends time in and about the back of the rocks. He does have a place he sleeps in the corner of the tank bottom at the back if I want to check on him I just look there in the evening and he is in bed :lol:

I have been running mine high for the last couple of months and I would say only average growth so am dropping back to what wasp suggested to see how that goes.

Maybe what are you dosing with e.g.Coral food/ chemicals/ maybe somethings not right there.

Very talented my you can take some great photos!! Just one tip for you I would take out that red calupera even though it adds colour it soon becomes a pain, I spent hours and hours getting it all out of the cube tank and it looks much better for it.

I THINK I AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ON LAYTON In other words since I was stupid enough to add another fish that grows huge and eats heaps I will now have to spend more money and time getting rid of the waste in my system that was already over loaded. The skimmer I am running is probably under size for my system going to install a nitrate fludiser thingy to see how that goes and I am playing around at feeding times to see if the fish need as much as I am putting in. If they do then I won't reduce it, but I have already found out that they only need half of the nori I was putting in for the last half of it they didn't really want it but eat it anyway :lol: P.S. STILL LOVE MY TRIGGER :lol:

O.K. I did this yesterday put in a plastic bin with a hole already cut e.g. was used as handle. put the skimmer in and the overflow of both tanks goes straight into the bin. I was able to turn in tap on the intake from the pump to skimmer wide open and the air tap is about one o'clock the bubbles are nice and small up the neck of the skimmer. I also took alot of sand out of the main tank and put into the other cube bin sitting just below the hole one the skimmer bin so it flows into it with the extra rock and culpera I was only able to make the sand 4" deep but the rest of the bin is full of rock. the water the flows from this bin through baffles to phospate fluidiser and intake pumps to tank. It made a hell of a mess in the main display tank when I took out the sand lucky I had turned off the cube tank so it stayed clean. Water is all clear today and I will test the nitrates soon to see what making that mess has done then wait and see what happen over the next few days. Just tested nitrates 30 phospates 0.02
