  1. Did you end up selling her? If so, any tips on building your own?
  2. Heya team. Iv been looking into getting a sump made for my two tanks for.awhile now. Ones a 300l and the other is only a 19l. The thought had crossed my mind to combine them via a sump but still unsure. Wanted to know if anyone has had experience installing these overflows for the two tanks iv got? Or something similar? I'd rather buy the kit than having pvc tubing
  3. Spider root, and Java fern. I love that combo and think it looks great.
  4. This afternoon iv been reading into these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ1mF9UMMEQ anyone know how if i can find one that can happily flow only 24GPH? Or do you guys think i should be creating a new topic somewhere else? cheers
  5. The plan is to move the BN to my main tank once they're big enough to hold their own then look ato getting shrimp. But wanted to know if there was any way to house a bigger volume of water somewhere that could work as a sump? I do have a 30l container I could connect up but unfortunately not sure how.
  6. Heya team. Thought I'd start a small tank for the gaming room. I wanted a betta but they didn't have any in Stock at the time. So came home with 6 harlequin Rasborras and 2 bristle nose pleco. (This was in my 35 liter tank. Thought the combo all up would be quite cool) I got home today to find my fish tank spewing water everywhere. I managed to grab a bucket and catch some of the water into a bucket for the fish and scooped them out ( timing of me getting home then was crazy!!!) Now I got them safe and shot back to the fish shop. He only had very basic tanks in Stock 25 liter /20 liter very cheap looking plastic tanks. So I ended up with a 19 liter Fluval Chi. My understanding is a tank of that size would've pushed the 35 to its limit. Now the 19? Gosh. Looks like I ain't getting the betta or dother you.guys think it will be ok till the Rasborra start to grow? Because everything are babies atm. Or any tips on nicely creating a false sump on this tank. Cheers team
  7. yes only the one. He seems to motor around ok. Plecs do.give him a hard time at feeding mind you. I only have the sailfin as he was free...
  8. Sorry what I mean lt was I do 20%on a Tuesday night and another 20% on a Friday night - 2 a week.
  9. Also I am adding a table spoon of salt each 20 liters as advised by the local pet shop. I should've said about my filtration. I have 2x 1250 aqua one cannister filters and a pond one inline UV filter.
  10. they use to be nicely planted until big plec came along haha. Now it's made like a cave so I'm happy. When I had guppies a all my pollutants were 0. Now the nitrates sit on 20. Does that mean my tank is trying to cycle with an increased bio load and I should keep up with my 2x weekly water changes? Adding maintenance doses of bacteria
  11. He has been there for a wee bit now. 4-5 months. You're right he potters around moving everything haha. I will keep an eye on them and see how I get on. Thanks for the advise Ben
  12. And iv also started 2x weekly water changes of 20% with gravel cleans and adding bacteria as maintenance doses weekly
  13. Here's my tank now. I do have a few questions on high nitrate readings. 20mg. Any help reducing this would be appreciated. I used to have the same stocking bit replaced 40+ guppies with 8 angels. Now it's thrown the nitrates high. I was alway sitting on zero no2 n03 ammonia and pH 6.7 ish.
  14. So, i ended up going to the pet store and got: 3 Scissortails 1 male Swordtail 2 pearl gourami 1 Bala Shark Cant wait to add them into the main tank. Will see how i get on
  15. http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/detail/view/aqua-one-aquience-classic-1200rt-black-tank-stand/m/925/ That is the link to my tank. My tank size is 120widthx50deepx66Tall http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/detail/view/aqua-one-aquis-cf1200-canister-filter/m/927/ That is the link to.my filter . What I did notice on the box tho is that it was ok up to 30 litre tanks yet this site states less... unsure actually. In that case, I like the angels but they will cause havoc with my other fish are their any other larger colorfully fish that will leave them alone? Proferably mid to top on the taNk? Thankyou for your help!!
  16. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=69440 My question of more fish.
  17. Well after this I had small red worms in my neon tetras So I had dosed the tank with a parasite rid and everything cleared up. I ahd removed the "sick " swordtail to another tank with the obviously infected neons and made the same dose and a little more. Seems to be working so far so I will see. With this new tank being set up and the old one still operational atm I was hoping to get all the fish I want and use the old 150litre tank as quarantine till I know they are healthy. These ideas sound ok? also the healthy looking swordtail has not changed shape at all since my last message here. Maybe not pregnant? ?
  18. Hi guys, previously everyone has been a big help with ideas on what to do. Iv gone and upgraded to a 300 litre tank and have now managed to last a couple months without even guppy fry from curling over so I feel I'm ready for the next step. More fish At the moment in the tank: 2 bristlenose pleco 1 hoppolo catfish 7 Neon tetra 2 guppies 2 female swordtails 1 scissortail. Now I'm wanting more action with bright colours. The tank is planted with bog wood and either end and spider root in the center. I love the look of angels but with guppies i feel I may start missing a few, So iv found the local pet store has some pearl gouramis. End result I was hoping for something like this: 2 bristlenose pleco 1 hoppolo catfish 10 Neon tetra 4 guppies (1m 3f) (they can bred away if fry survives well that's a bonus) 4 swordtails (1m 3f) (same as the guppies) 1 scissortail. ( kept because i got two for free but he can get aggressive so long term not wanting but he's a tough bugger (jumped out of old tank while cleaning many times so he would be missed) 3 or 4 Pearl Gourami or 4 paired angels. ( orange light for the livebearers) What do you guys think? Or am I well over my head and need to be looking at other options of fish? Kind regards
  19. Female Swordtail Female bully swordtail Male sick Swordtail the tank Hopefully this works
  20. So i thought id replace my female swordtail who died after a failed pregnancy with two female swordtails. I had mentioned on the day what the scenario was and i wanted two orange coloured female swordtails. So i brought them home and after letting them swim around in the spare tank for a week to see if there are any issues. All was ok (although i did notice one was allot bigger and different shaped than expected) so i moved them both into the tank with my male swordtail. After the first night he was just sitting at the bottom of the tank seemed happy just treading water at the bottom. He done this for about a week before i saw him dead. :ske: He was still eating a little but had lsot allot of weight. Now the issue i have is the bigger one of the two female swordtails seems to be bullying the other and was a little aggressive with the male also. The other female is now hiding in the bush. Is it actually a swordtail or just a bully? Any recommendations on what to do? Ill upload photos when i figure out how to Regards Nossy
  21. Thankyou for your help, yes iv placed two pieces of bog wood and one of spider root or whatever its called into the tank. I am looking at getting a bigger tank tomorrow actually as this one i dont like the size (being so tall) So theres a mini auction locally that has an AR980 for $300 atm I might try grab myself a bargin. Also while you're here. any tips on keeping these fry numbers down? there are sooo many of them that when threy grow the tank will be over crowded
