  1. Those pictures are incredible! I have a DSLR camera, but I can never get a clear shot. How do you do it? Is it because my tank is in a dark room? Will
  2. Ok thanks for all your help guys, here is my updated list 1 x Albino Bristlenose (Will move out when he is too big) 10 x Black Widow Tetra 2 x Guppy (I have my little cousins coming on wednesday, so I thought they would enjoy choosing a guppy each as the first fish in the tank) 10 x Some other Tetra (Either Ember or Cardinals. I am open to suggestions) The reason I want the bristlenose badly is it is great to keep algae down, if you have an alternative I am open to it. Cheers, Will
  3. Hi all, Thought I would do a quick update on the tank. I am going to add 20 more neons, I have a friend who buys his fish wholesale every so often so next time he puts in a order I will get them. I am working on my 71 litre at the moment, and getting my 700 liter to my house. Will
  4. Hi guys, I just set up my 71 litre yesterday, and its in the process of cycling with Nutrafin Cycle. My little cousin arrives on Wednesday so after the week is up I will take him to get the first fish My final stocking plan is going to be 5 x Tiger Barb 5 x Black Widow Tetra 2 x Pearl Gourami 1 x Albino Bristlenose Is this a good plan? Is there anything wrong with the fish I have chosen? Cheers, Will
  5. Hi all, Got a chance to look at the tank on Tuesday. Its monsterous! Has a built in sump! Stupid me never measured it properly.... I will be getting it sometime soon, not entirely sure when. Its too big for my trailer so the guy who has it will have to bring it in on his one. On the plus side, while I was there he gave me all the other old aquarium stuff he had. This included a 2 tanks, 1 airpump, 1 55W heater, 1 filter, and a hood and light for one of the tanks. One of the tanks was screwed, cracked bottom panel, most of the other panels were chipped or beaten up looking so I tossed it away. The tank that is in good condition is too large for the spot for my hospital tank, so I am setting it up as another freshwater, probably planted tank. It is 71 liters. If anyone has some ideas as to what to do with it, please share them! I am going to paint the back black as soon as this rain stops (Come on Nelson!) Will
  6. Good to meet you too That was just for the glass, I would still have to put it together. Thanks for the offer of information, I will certainly be using it! I'm looking forward to getting this tank. I was thinking of using concrete blocks on the stand, the floor in the room I am putting it in is not level. Will I be better off making it out of wood? Will
  7. Thanks a heap. I once asked for a quote for a small tank from viridian (60x30x30). They told me it would be $240!!! I will assess the tank tomorrow. Will
  8. Is that glazier Fast Glass? I will have dimensions tonight, and glass thickness tomorrow. $100 doesn't sound too bad, it has some sort of integrated filter thing (I am guessing he means sump) which I will be able to check out tomorrow. All in all doesn't sound too bad! Is anyone able to give me a rough estimate on what running costs will be? Regards, Will
  9. Hi all, Just last night I was talking to my cousin who picked up a big fish tank for $30 at the recycling center. Two of the panels are broken, bottom and one of the sides. He didn't know how to fix it and gave it too me for free! Along with two other tanks, I am not sure of their condition. They are both about 60 liters. The big tank he said is the size of my door, almost 2m long. Tomorrow I am heading out to pick them up, but I want to know, is it going to be worth it to fix? Will the glass cost be ridiculous? Thanks all, Will
  10. Cool! I will think about it
  11. Were you accounting for stocking levels there? Do you think I actually could fit 20 or 30 neons in there?
  12. Ok thanks for that, Is there any other fish you can recommend? I am open to any suggestion
  13. Hi Guys, I have re-done the aquascape and would love some feedback on it. I got the driftwood last night at the TAC meeting (Thanks Glen!) And put it in today. I want to get some plant to fill it up a bit more, because I dont think its heavily planted enough for the Gourami atm. I also was thinking of getting a ghost glass catfish, will it be ok in this tank? At the moment I have 10 Neon Tetras, a male and female Gourami and a bristlenose Thanks, Will
  14. Hi there, I did both of the tests and they came back as being cycled. What I need to know if those fish are compatible, and if I should keep em in pairs. Will
  15. Hi guys, Need some advice here. I am looking at adding some more fish into the tank. I was looking at getting a pair of Golden Honey Dwarf Gourami. Is it good to keep them in pairs? And will they fit in with my current fish? Will
  16. Got some Java Fern from a friend today - that completes all the plants in my tank. And here is a picture (finally, sorry for the wait) Will
  17. Checked the stats and the tank looked like it was cycled so I added the tetras. All 6 of them are happy and healthy Pics coming soon. Will
  18. Hi all, I removed the other non-aquatic plants - the Japanese Rush because I was told it would rot, and the brush think because it was getting onto the filter. A friend of mine (Very much thanks to him) Gave me some Anubias, which I have added. I have rearranged all the plants and there is space for just one more. I am trying to find something that has interesting foliage for that spot. Pic coming soon Will
  19. I like it, but I think it would look nice with a couple of changes. Firstly The driftwood looks a bit funny being out of the water like that. It would be better if it was trimmed or the water level raised. And maybe some moss on the driftwood to turn it into a driftwood tree? Will
  20. I've been trying to feed him TetraVeggie algae wafers. There is a nice little cave he can stay in, and there is some crevices he can squeeze into. So should I hold of feeding him again until wednesday? Will
  21. Ok thanks for that. I now have another question, my Bristlenose seems to be moving around a lot. Normally I think they usually stay attached to a single spot, and only move to feed. He also hasnt touched the food I have placed in the tank about an hour or so ago. I think he may be eating the slime coat that the Prime provides. Am I right? Should I be worried? Thanks, Will
  22. Yeah I have a test kit. I tested ammonia yesterday, 0.25 ppm. So when I see those results then I am safe to add some more fish? And if so, are Neon Tetras safe to put in? Thanks, Will
  23. Do you mean 1 a day? The wafers are almost as big as him... And how do I know when the tank is cycled? I was planning on waiting a week. Will
  24. Hi guys, I just wanted to check, how often should I feed my Bristlenose a algae wafer? And when am I safe to add another fish, I was thinking a school of Neon Tetras next... Thanks, Will
  25. Added the BN, he seems as happy as all hell I guess I'm a fish owner know. How long until I am a succesful one? Will
