  1. The Koura I have and the only one im putting is only bout 2 to 3cm long from nose to tail. He'll be alright for a while, I'll get a pair of bullies from the Pohangina River
  2. Many many questions... What about crushed up pummus stone? It's got a great surface area, floats and works in the diy moving bed (I think) Any ideas?
  3. Alright, what about the sponge filter for a tank with a small koura (Will get bullies once get good filter) till christmas when I can get a good canister? Then I can use the cycled sponge filter for a snail breeding tank or quarintine etc. Is this a good idea?
  4. What about doing 20 or 25% water changes with chilled water?
  5. alright, so sell it and by a ton of media? Will contemplate it
  6. Alright! Occupants complete, Using duckweed and hopefully will find a Riccia, Now to design it , I've decided a sand substrate but hmm... Now I need to collect some bits and pieces (Driftwood, Rocks etc)
  7. Still, I don't wanna sell it, is it possible to use as media?
  8. what about just as a tank for one Koura?

  15. Also known as a Tadpole Shrimp.
  16. I've got a question about a couple of Diy Filters. This DIY Filter uses K1 Media but since I have a very tight budget, would I be able to replace it with Filter Wool, and is this filter good for a sand substrate? Is this a good filter for a sand substrate if the other one isn't? And a question about both? Are they good long term or which one is or which one isn't etc?
  17. I already Have a Koura in a temporary holding tank that's around 2cm to 3cm so shouldn't be too big, and Riccia maybe a good choice just a matter of finding them.
  18. I'm certainly keeping a Koura, no doubts on that but as I've been reading on this forum, not many fish are suitable... What about Cockabillies? Can you keep them in a tank? They're pretty fast so I don't think they'll be caught, and I've seen them in Koura Habitats but not too sure. Any ideas? Also native plant life and where to collect, preferably floating, you know why (Darn Koura). Would really like something in the tank that grows... I've got Hornwort (Ceratophyllum Demersum) but that's just plain invasive so what else? Help would be appreciated :bggrn:
  19. Howdy Everyone! I'm Tman! (nickname as don't want to disclose real name atm). I am a budding fish keeper from Ashhurst and I'm planning on keeping a native tank for the first time, I've kept Comets and Fancies over the years in some of my smaller tanks but I recently acquired a 55L tank. You'll see a lot of me on the native forum and the beginners one. I'm 13 and I have been fishkeeping for about 2 years now so I have got a little experience but not with natives. This is just a quick introduction, See ya round! :dnc1: :happy2:
