  1. What type of set ups would you guys go for in a 75 gal 1200mm tank? Currently: 18 Electric Yellows, 1 Bristlenose, 1 Demasoni, 6 Peacock males- all different. Because my yellows are now starting to kind of form a domination, I notice everyone hiding all the time and they are not all out and about playing anymore! So I am looking into what options I have to bring the spark back to my tank. Option 1) Sell 15 Electric Yellows- keeping 1 male and two females. Buying 3 Moorii Blue Dolphin- 1 male and 2 female, 3 Frontosa- 1 male,2 female, 1 Lithobates male, 1 Electric Blue male. - Although would the 3 remaining mbuna yellows + new electric blue be alright? I did some reading that dolphins and frontosa are alright with peacocks/haps? Option 2) YOU TELL ME
  2. Hey! As far as black marble chip, is that like aragonite??? I have white limestone to buffer my pH in my african tank... will black marble chip do the same??? AWESOME set up by the way! If it wasn't so big, I would rob ya!
  3. Trying to get a list together of what we have available in New Zealand at the moment, If you have any to add please let me know what they are. These are what I have... DragonsBlood Lawanda Lemon Jake Ethelwynnae Electric Yellow Demasoni Red Zebra (looks like electric yellow?) I am interested to know what you all have?
  4. defo fully yellow, it is just the black markings. so all females have no black? if there is black along back fins and front bottom fins, they are defo male?
  5. Yes they have! Lemon Jake gets chased a bit by luwanda (Alpha of the tank), and albino orange DB gets chased a bit by red DB (Second in charge), but no serious fights. As I am typing this I just watched my luwanda pick a beetle/fly from the surface! Clever thing! haha Also my Orange DB turned out to be a female, and has spat 7 fry from the albino orange DB. not sure to class as hybrid as DB are already line bred? lol
  6. Damn these are tricky bastards to sex! I have 19 of them. 2 of them are female for sure as they have next to no black on them at all, and they both have held. As for the other 17... is it possible for a female to still have the black markings like a male? I have google and googled to no concrete advice - does anyone have experience that can help? Thanks!
  7. coolies! thanks for you help nudge You are ALWAYS so helpful!
  8. Oh ok, no it isn't annoying... i kind of like the look of it tbh! clean water, dirty rocks looks natural in my opinion! haha So no dangers for my new fishes?
  9. Hey guys, just wondering what on earth this is! It is in my fry tank and just wondering if it is algae which I will leave for my africans to eat, or if it is a bad algae that needs to be go teen rid of! http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab15 ... 0i5yhi.jpg http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab15 ... trck6i.jpg Please let me know, as there are 8 month old fry, and 8 week old fry in here~

  11. after seeing that.... complicated ! hehe Just saw on youtube a plywood aquarium.... wonder if that is the way to go for this!
  12. Hey guys, Just wondering about how I would calculate the strength needed/frame design if I wanted to set up a 3x3 tank wall. I would like to run a sump at the base, and would be looking at about 25-30gal tanks. Mainly for holding mothers/fry/grow out. Have done a bit of googling, but can;t seem to find a resource on how to calculate the strength of the timber required, in order to handle the weight of the 9 tanks. Any advice, or directions to sites would be helpful! Thank you
  13. The white version of electric yellows??? Seen them online, anyone seen them in NZ or know where they are available?
  14. Will do that tomorrow I do a 20% water change every 3 days to compensate for the amount of fishes!
  15. sorry, by would do that you mean you would add the 9 more? Yeah I was thinking of that being my max point
  16. would be a total of 18 electric yellows, 6 male peacocks and 1 demasoni so wanting to add another 9 electric yellows. were on trade me at great price
  17. My african tank has clean water... but like little bits in it? Would another filter help clear that? Currently 185 L running with a AquaOne1200. Should I try get another 1200 to solve my "dusty" water? Or are they any other suggestions?
