  1. Brilliant.. this is exactly the same question I was going to ask!! thanks Barnicle
  2. yes... he was the only 1 I figured would be innocent  !!
  3. Yes.. I have to remove her from the tank.. the poor girl she gets pestered constantly we ended up with 4 babies.. who are in their own wee nursery tank floating inside the main tank... till they get bigger than the other fishies mouths.... :nilly:
  4. bugger.... I may have to get another small tank for the culprit then....
  5. I have a couple of bunches of baby tears growing tall, still all bunched together.. but I notice lots of long threads growing down from them.. should I trim the top half off & replant it, & it will grow into another wee separate plant? & keep deviding them till they are much smaller to increase that carpet type effect I see the ones in the photos are weighted down.. my stones are small gravel, but I dont think a fine wee stem would stay lodged in there for very long, so would I better using a wee bit of the plant weight & wrap around the stalk till roots & it can get properly develpoed.
  6. Someone has been eating my poor wee male guppies pretty tails &c:ry In the tank I have guppies (1 female, 3 males), 4 platties (2 boys, 2 girls), 2 honey dwarf gourami, 1 little golden bristlenose, 11 neon tetras & a siamese fighter fish (male). Who do you think the culprit is??? :dunno:
  7. OMG.. you are an amazing woman!! these darling wee critters are so lucky to have someone like you to care for them
  8. Thanks for that.. I think I'll contact the breeder I got them from tomorrow & see if he would like her back.. as I wasn't thinking about trying to breed anything at this stage, until I was much more familiar with keeping the ones I have got
  9. Hi.. I'm quite a noobie to tropical fishkeeping... have got 3 male guppies & 1 female.. & shés pregnant  the boys are harrasing the hell out of the poor girl.. I've just put her in the plastic breeder container (sitting in the main tank) to give her a little breathing space & a break from being chased all around the tank.. or should I just leave her be in the main tank..??? :nilly:
  10. Wow.. that looks stunning!!!!
  11. Have a good look around on this website.. lots of good info! http://scootersurvival.co.nz/ & also http://www.rideforever.co.nz/
  12. Thanks for your replies! I now also have: a little golden bristlenose, a sunshine platy, another wee platy (can't remember what type, but I will ask the guy again tomorrow), another guppy (4 in total), 2 honey dwarf gourami, & the 11 neon tetras :bounce: & a heap of new plants! (again, I can't remember the name of it  ) the big one in the middle & to the right side.. if anyone can tell me...?? Plus I went to the beach & found a few pieces of driftwood, so they are soaking for a few days to get the tannin out.. hopefully  So for now I just stuck the new plants in randomly, until the wood is ready.. so it now looks like this....
  13. Have just added a photo.. not too excited about the planting tho.. any better suggestions.. or do I just wait a while & see how it 'grows up'?
  14. Hi there Have recently set up my first tropical tank  Tank: I bought the tank second hand & originally had goldfish in it. It's a Hailea 60L. Has got a aqua one 100w heater. Aqua one 301F-LV internal filter ( 250l/hr ). I recently replaced the lightbulb (when it still had goldfish in it) PL/UV lamp - 24w (says 'sunlight' on the box) & have an airstone. Plants: twisted val. crypt - affinis. java fern. baby tears. zealondia chain sword. red hygrophila & another one which I don't have a name for yet. Fish: So far I have 11 neon tetras & 3 little guppies.. & think I have decided on also getting a couple of blue dwarf gourami, a longfin golden bristlenose & some hi fin platys.. & maybe a couple of honey dwarf gouramis. I've spent hours looking around on the net doing research & hope that what I am thinking of for combination & tank size etc - works.. Any feedback on any of the above is welcome! Thanks
