  1. Hello people, I have 2 aqua one tanks that i am thinking of getting a automatic feeder for when we go away on holidays. I have been looking around and cant seem to work out how the feeders would fit on the aqua one 620 for example. As its all inclosed with the lid and the filter on the back.all the pictures of them seem to be sitting on a open top tank........... There must be a feeder that fits onto these tanks and if there is, would i need to keep the lid open teh entire time im away to let it work? does anyone here have a aqua one 980 or similar that they have a feeder that fits onto it?? Any help would be great Cheers Leah
  2. yep, now sitting in a airated container inside one of my tanks with meth blue as a bit of antifungus help. I hope that they hatch okay. fingers crossed. and then for the hard part........
  3. so after watching them and attempting to get to the eggs before the other fishies got them i decided to pop all my sterbai into a tank and now TODAY i have over 60 eggs and they are still going. :happy2: So wish me luck people!
  4. ooooh, I am using micro worms at the moment, When they next have a session i will get a BBS hatchery on the go. Any tips on getting more infusoria into the pot?. It has a snail in to help. Should i pop in some liquifry 1 to try and help. It just seems like a big blob for 2 fry. Any thoughts? Also i wonder if it was the Panda cories that have started a new egg batch ...eeeeekkkkk!! so excited.
  5. Thanks they must of heard me talking and I saw them breeding last week :happy2: . Managed to save 3 eggs from being eaten for a trial test hatch and 2 hatched. I was VERY happy. I have managed to kill one with shock by banging the floating pot when it slipped out my hand but the other is still going. AND then i cleaned the community tank they are in and have found another fry which looks like a Panda fry (yay!). The one thing that shocked me the most is how sticky they were. My previous infertile pandas eggs were not that sticky. Fingers crossed on the next breeding session i am going to try and collect as many as possible to have a go at raising a group. Wish me luck! I guess i am going to need it!
  6. Hi all, Has anyone bred these guys before. I have 4 of them for well over a year and i am thinking of giving them a crack in a separate breeding tank. Has anyone got any tips on how to make these guys spawn? I have seen them get frisky in my main tank when the other corys are at it but no eggs and no "T" ing. I have read numerous posts on the net but i am wondering if there is anyone on here who has done it without them already breeding in their community tank. Also should the temp be discus temp i.e 80? Also is it essential to have the tank lit with a tank light or will a normal lamp do? Does the amount of light into the aquarium make a difference to them breeding? Any help or tips would make me very happy. Thanks in advance
  7. I bought mine from Trade Me from a seller called demitryfish in the Waikato as i couldnt find any in the local shops either. They happily post it to you and when it arrived it didnt take much washing before putting it in the tank either so that was a bonus. I have had a much more happier and successfull tank since putting it in. I wished i had done it sooner Good Luck
  8. Just in Matua, Tauranga They are doing it every week now so fingers crossed they will get it right one day. I have looked in the shops and everyone is sellig real small ones so might wait a bit and see what i can find. Might try and convince sterbai to spawn to pass the time :spop: thanks
  9. well done! it looks really nice. Wish i had a lovely big tank with space like that. I think i would be wanting to go wild on the plants too
  10. I have had them about 8 months or so and they have been laying for me for about 5 months or so and getting more frequent. They are prob maybe 4.5cm long from tail to head. They are not as chunky as my other corys. mmm im unsure about my hardness of water. I dont have a test for that. My silvertip tetras spawn in my tank so i imagine from reading that its soft water??? at a guess!! I might be wrong. Ph is 7 and temp is always steady about 25. Nitrates, ammonia and whatnot are perfect. I do have other tanks availiable, Im wondering if i should set another one up as i have a bag of aquarium peat to maybe assist the water to get softer conditions. Do you think this may be one of the reasons? It would be great if its that simple. Thanks for your speedy replies
  11. They generally lay in my java moss so i just pull i clump out and airate it well in a separate container with a airstone in the same water and same temp. Temp is 24/25ish. They only fungus after 5 days and dont fungus at all if i meth blue them. They fungus straight away if i dont airate them. I dont treat my water with chemicals either so it cant be that. Its such a shame if it is the importer dosing them. poor little bleighters
  12. Hi peeps I have a couple of Panda Corys that breed pretty much every two weeks. I see them do the famous T position yet i cant hatch the eggs. They just stay see through and never seem to tan. 7 days later they are just the same. Has anyone else on here had the same problem? wondering if one or both of my little cool cats is/are sterile. They have been breeding for a good few months now. Any advice would be greatly apprieciated. Would love to raise some corykittens from them. Thanks Guys Leah
