  1. In the irrigation section or general plumbing?
  2. Was unsure if silicon was ok for bonding plastics. I have some old A4 sized plastic letter trays for sump dividers and i think the silicon is going to come in very handy Cheers Steve
  3. Is there such a thing? I have a water pump that some 19mm tubing fits snugly into (rather than trying to find a 26mm to 19mm reducer) and want some glue to strengthen the connection Cheers Steve
  4. Getting the final bits together for this, its getting exciting I use an old sieve to scoop up any large bits after a water change, have an idea that a larger one could be useful as the first filter in the sump, then a coarse and fine layer, then filter wool then onto the bio balls and noodles Overkill? Cheers Steve
  5. Brilliant idea, i brought some clips for 50 cents each so cable ties will save me quite a bit
  6. Is the black plastic irragation tubing and fittings ok to use in a aquarium? The price is right, its all 13mm (or 19mm) and has push and clip fittings so no glue involved. Would be 2 breeding tanks, a grow out tank and a sump Would cleaning the pipes be an issue? Already thinking that I would need 19mm for the returns Cheers Steve
  7. i do a 30% change weeky with a gravel siphon. Would a straight 30% water change once or twice a week be a good idea? Pretty sure I know the answer already Back up heater is sorted, will get a battery powered air pump. Is under tonic a brand name? Is it something you give the fish regularly or wait until you see signs of distress? Cheers Steve
  8. So far, all I have is the ability to do high percentage water changes daily. What should I have at home to fight the most common fishy illness's? Are there some basic things I should be stocked up on? Cheers Steve
  9. Any 36 inch bulb will fit (the rio 180 and the vision should have the same fitting - check the fatness - its a technical term), I think the juwel is 897mm and the others are 900mm. Mine had a different brand already and the fittings had flexed slightly to accomadate the extra. There are certainly savings to be made over the juwel bulbs
  10. Ok, I work in IT and some of the above posts left my brain scrambled. I ditched the blue bulb and the replacement options at the LFS were sunlight or tropical so have a tropical bulb. Luckily there was only one brand in stock that would fit. The difference is amazing. It gives out a warm light and the driftwood looks brilliant, the blue certainly washed everything out. Cheers Steve
  11. Hello Have a second hand juwel rio that had been a marine tank at some point, the current bulbs are a marine blue and a bright white. The plants seem to be doing ok but the fish colours change alot, depending where there are in the tank Would a planted tank suit 2 bulbs the same? Or a better mix of bulbs? Cheers Steve
  12. Hello all Firstly, thank you all for the wealth of info already posted here. Its a great resource. Especially after 16 years of not owning fish However, there are still more questions But can save those for another day 180l Juwel Rio with additional Eheim filters, Fluval heater. Discus, neons, harlequins and catfish. Pond going in the back yard soon. Have the room in the garage to set up some discus breeding but want to take that slowly. Look forward to bugging you all soon Cheers Steve
