    pH

Cheers Layton. Its an American Marine Pinpoint, I calibrated it a couple of months ago but will redo and test. Will check ventilation - quite likely to be that as its only ever seemed to have dropped once the room was halved in size and door added. Thanks Fay but not really into additives (except calcium reactor of course) would rather treat the cause than the symptom
  2. isnt that pink one just the normal browney/orange coloured monti digitata in a very low nutrient tank?

    pH

while we seem to be on the chemistry conversation, my pH has dropped to about 7.6. i believe typically it should be about 8.0 - 8.2 or thereabouts. other than water changes, how else can i increase it?
  4. at the top of this site there is a 'Search' link, type aipstasia in there and you will find this topic has come up many many times
  5. holy crap. i like his comment at the end "...Especially a tank as young as mine, which is just getting settled and will hopefully become even more beautiful over time..." WTF?!

    Growth shots

something i've noticed since taking photos is that you dont actually realise how much your corals have grown unless you took the photo's in the first place - something to compare against. with some of my acro's i was a bit concerned at slow growth, but then looking back at photos 3 months ago i was amazed at the difference. i do need a decent camera too, something that will pull out the colours as i see them, the sony dsc-p100 i have is ok, but the colours are a little washed out - does everyone else find the same thing with their cameras or do the colours closely resemble what you see??? colouration in my acros is still taking its time (lack of lighting, still havent setup T5's yet), although getting better by the day. interesting though that its considerably easier to see the varying colours of acros from top down than from the front. why would this be?

personally i would have thought an 1250 would be slightly underated for the job?
  8. jimmy couldnt have said it better if he tried that is the issue, hobby only had a few importers, more importers hit the market, prices (at least from what i've seen) drop, consumers happier, everyone still making a buck, however original importers pissed off coz now they have less in their back pocket regardless of the way someone does business, competition is a good thing to the consumer, so get over it.
  9. layton that is pathetic. if you accuse someone on the way they do business, have some facts to back it up. i deal with whoever has what i need either at the time or for the best price, simple. just like clothes shopping, no different. i dont care how either party does business, if i need it, i'll buy it

    metal halides

    i run 3 x 150W m/h's over a 1500x600x600 tank. to be honest i could do with a 4th. however im about to hook up 4 x T5's in addition to the current 3 x 150's, i believe this should be sufficient.

    SCARLET

However I must add this comment, Austrians at large are in no way shape or form associated with chimera, research into chimeras fnzas posts found that they were highly intellectual although had a strange, uncanny and extremely bizzare sense of humour. Chimera is really a pure bred kiwi.
