  1. I’m looking to rehome my Fahaka puffer, he is about five years old and close to 30 cm including tail. Please do your homework these Fish require a large tank to themselves with easy turning. He eats frozen crabs (not supermarket crabmeat), pondsnails, And massivore pellets. Never been interested in clams or mussels but you could give him a try again. He will eat any tank mates he can catch, however I have had luck with blackline flying foxes and some bristle noses. he is currently in an approximately 500l tank and I feel this ideally what he would move to. will add photos tonight
  2. bichir, ghost knife fish, chalceous and tire track eel, now sold
  3. Distichodous, datniod, and surinamensis are sold. All others still available.

  5. the problem is you can't control where the algae will grow so if its in your main tank or a sump its going to spread, personally i use floating plants like indian fern and water hyacinth to remove some of my nitrates. the indian fern doesn't seem to interest my silver dollars or giant gourami as food so thats why i chose it.
  6. i have a amazon puffer (Colomesus asellus) in with apistoes and rasboras however you won't find them in NZ anymore, from what i hear these guys are the exception to the rule of puffers having no tank mates.
  7. looks like a type of oxygen weed, not sure of which species, we have 3 different types in nz. two of which are illegal. anything to give us a size reference? if it very fine then it could be a type of hornwurt.
  8. in my experience almost all apistos will go well, with the exception of occasional chasing, just make sure there is plenty of plants. that said with ramirezi i would be cautious as they can get much bigger than most apistos. sounds like a good tank let us know when its up and running.
  9. thanks, I'm thinking of moving the arowana on soon, he's getting a little big for his tank mates.
  10. to my knowledge its a female, I'm basing that off of the lack of facial 'worms.' you have one too?
  11. sorry no, its one of my agassizzi males, coloured up quite impressively i thought. got it from hollywood mt roskil about 8 months ago. cheers.

    hello

hi guys, i was stung with the addiction about 4 years ao now and it as escalated ever since, i guess i should do a bit of a blurb of myself; im currently living in green bay Auckland but spend 2-3 days a week in matakana at my girlfeinds(shes mad on fish too, fortunatly) i have 3-4 tanks set up at the mo, my monster tank measuring 180x60wx78h approx 840L a juwel rio 125L with the only Amazon puffer to make it through quarantine about a yaer ago a small apisto breeder tank in my room and a hospital tank with two "mystus" cats growing up in it, they have recently come into the country and can be found at hollywood FF mt roskil. my girlfriend also has a rather large tank 210lx70wx55h approx 810L, and uses it as a huge planted/angel comunity tank. ill upload some photos of the tanks and various fish tonight once im home from summer school. im currently studying Aquaculture at AUT and this will be my last year, then i find a job and a house, not looking forward to the move with my fish tanks. im hoping to get a job with the mahurangi technical institute studying freshwater species, or as back ups, the ministry of fisheries working on quota management, or helping a a friend of mine that breeds goldfish around his farm. cheers Logan
