  1. And on this page http://www.liquidpets.co.nz/About-us/ you have several grammatical errors and typos.
  2. It seems a lot of LFS sites use very similar software ... so something new is good. => Siamese
  3. Reading the title I was thinking you had hollowed out a fallen tree and filled it with water ...!
  4. Yep as well as others, and these
  5. Good luck. You might want to get someone to spell and grammar check your site for you.
  6. Is it just a one off, or is this an ongoing price?
  7. Oh, and bubbling might mean you've got an air lock inside the cannister .. so trying to prime it fails. Tilting it around to move the bubble sometimes works. Also don't have the exit tube inside the water .. leave it outside as that pressure might stop it working.
  8. You can try putting the cannister into a tub first so you don't get water everywhere, take the lid off, and then fill the cannister with tank water to the very top. Then put the lids back on and then try priming it. Note that the cannister has to be well below the tank so that the siphon works effectively as they usually use gravity to feed, and then a pump to return.
  9. OK, removing NZ Van Lines from my list!
  10. Interesting vid on the Kaldnes filter material The material they started with in 1989 is still in use in the original treatment plant so it looks robust. Their site also says the process is used in NZ. And there are quite a few DIY projects using this material to create filters. Anyone selling this material in NZ? I'm looking for some type of filter material that can survive half a day of a power outage .. ie. solar powered outside "pond" filter. Well, not a pond, but a neighbour's shub .. might see if I can keep a couple of comets in it.
  11. I got mine from a TM breeder who lives a few kms away. He had quite a few tanks of them, but I doubt he had 50k.
  12. Checking the Spotlight website, they have several stores in Auckland. Last time I visited Auckland, it looked like many Asian cities.
  13. So, all the angels in NZ now are from the same 8 parental pairs?
  14. My packet of filter wool says imported polyester ... packed under license by Petware, Auckland. $6.90 for a cereal box size of the stuff. Can't remember which LFS I got mine from lol.
  15. Several books I have read suggest supporting your LFS for all your supplies. But if the cost differential is too great .... you can start asking Spotlight and Pararubber to bring in fish for you :slfg:
  16. Someone was offering a second hand 3 stage RO unit here for $300 ( I think)
  17. What do you do with 50,000 fish a year? Whitebait fritters??
  18. Were they crated or carried as is?
  19. Just talking glass and cabinets .. no water, no fish!
  20. Can you put angels in a community tank? I was under the impression that you need at least 5-6, and that would already max out the tank.
  21. Filter wool from the LFS is cheap enough .. why take risks for a few cents savings? Yours is an external filter ... not internal. I think it's called a trickle filter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filter_%28aquarium%29#Trickle_filters and there should be some baffles in it to force the water through the system and to minimize bypass. The trickling of water onto the filtration media maximizes the oxygen exposure. You don't need carbon ... unless you're filtering out chemicals.

    Hello!

I think you can set the permissions to public so non-face book users can view
  23. Was that pump supposed to operate fully submersed? It has a venturi port on it which is out of the water so I'm guessing that it should be at least submerged below that ... and as it wasn't submerged, you blew the pump from being overheated. Also I think you're supposed to have some mechanical filtration there, but you've only got ceramic noodles. Perhaps it needs some filter wool in the first box so that particulate matter does not quickly clog up the noodles.
  24. I guess a lot of people move their own aquariums but if you had to use a local removal company, are there any specific recommendations. I have a fixed price offer on a heavy tank from TM and I am thinking of consolidating my various tropical tanks into one large one with dividers. After all they're not eggs!
  25. This is pretty basic forum software that does not allow you to upload images. You have to provide a URL and upload them elsewhere, and link to them here. But the problem with that as in other forum software that does the same is that images get lost as users lose their image repository accounts. On the other hand, no image uploading means less storage, and easier maintenance for the people running the forum.
