thanks he's now about 1.2cm :lol: oh, the hard thing about only having 1 baby surviving is the feeding.. if i put anything in there he doesnt really see it.. thus he doesnt eat it.. and it goes bad.. so i've given up giving him food... inside the breeding trap, i just have a tiny bit of driftwood and lots of plants with algae on it.. seems to work

in case anyone is interested... the baby is doing well he's about 1cm now by the way, what do i feed him? last time i put in a bit of spirulina but that went bad cuz he didnt eat it... right now i just have plants in there so he can eat the algae..

just an update.. not all 17 made it first of all, 3 hatched and i dont know where the rest went ! when i came home from uni, i only found 3 in the net... so i decided to put those 3 in a plastic breeding trap (i know i should've done this when they were still eggs.. *sigh*) anyway, as i was putting them in the plastic box, one escaped and went into the main tank! then i couldnt get it back into the plastic box cuz Milo (the dad) was guarding it :roll: so there there are only 2 in the box.................. then 1 died......... so i only have 1 left in the box......... i dont know the status of the one with Milo.... he's not guarding it anymore.. i guess that one died too......... all in all... i only have 1 baby...... getting darker now... hope it will survive..........

i now have 17 healthy eggs there's a red line along the eggs.. looks like blood vein? no black dots (eyes) yet... hopefully they'll hatch in the next couple of days by the way.. how sensitive are those eggs to those blue ich medicines? i had to put some of that medicine in because one of my mollies have ich............

so the eggs being separated and handled like that is ok?

ok i separated the white ones from the clear ones.. and removed them. they're very sticky arent they?? i had to use my fingers to separate them... some of the clear ones are still sticking together but will they be ok separated like that? (some are in clumps of 3 or 2, and some are one their own.) will they be ok after being handled so much? i only managed to save about 20 eggs....... im so scared...

some (about half) of the eggs have solid whitish colour in them and some (the other half) are still plain clear orange why is this? does it mean that some of the eggs are fertilised and some aren't? this is the best pic i can show, its a bit blurry cuz of the net..

oh.. those on the top left and right corners are some spirulina pallets.. for them to eat... but OMG.. here's the news...... they WERE breeding!! this morning i found a bunch of EGGS in the filter but the parents were outta there already.. so i got a breeding net, carefully placed them in there and also put an air stone to keep the water moving.. am i doing the right thing here? is there anything else i should do? how long do i wait til they hatch? 3-5 days is it? oh how exciting :lol: here they are in the filter: here they are in the net with the air stone: a view from the bottom of the breeding net (and my clown swimming across haha):

hi there i have a little problem.. this morning i found 2 of my bristle noses in my aquaclear 200 filter (1 male, 1 female) i guess they went in through the waterfall part of the filter... i took them out of there back into the tank but later that night they were back in there! is this a sign of mating?

where abouts is your shop? i'd love to come and visit

no the spikes dont come out all the time.. only when i'm near.. i guess he feels threatened by me ok i'll let him out in the morning.. gently... :roll: poor fishy.. thanks for the advice

oh no he's gone weak again.. i separated him into a small breeding trap thing... so the others wont rub against him so much... i see what is wrong now... his bone is sticking out from under his eye.. there is a shield type bone that is very thin starting from the mouth and extends to just under the eyes.. i can't separate him because i dont have another tank.. he doesn't eat whenever i see him but i think he's scavanging in the gravel when he's hungry :-? yeah he is the smallest clown i have... i really dont think anyone is attacking him and he doesnt have white spot.. i saw him in the front area of the tank this morning.. he's rather skinny but i can see he's getting stronger.. hardly ever on his side now, wobbling around upright.. i think the melafix is working :lol:

well i dunno wat happened but i found him stuck inside my tall grass plant 2 days after he disappeared (i thot he vanished or something) i let him out.. he was very weak.. and lays on his side most of the time.. still breathing and occasionally he moves to a different area.. i use melafix in the tank and i think he's recovering..

hi everyone.. one of my clown loaches is acting real weird... he spends a lot more time hiding than usual (usually he's the most active out of my 3 clowns) and i also noticed fast breathing... very fast breathing......... oh and because he hides all the time, he doesnt come out during feeding time.. water parameters are good.. other fish are healthy.. whats wrong with him? and how can i make him better? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.. thx.. :roll:

i've never had problems with melafix treatment along with my bristlenoses in the tank.. they seem to be alright with it... Alan_au, why is it bad for them? :-?

4ft is that big? mmm might need a couple of those 200's when the time comes.......

hey there.. i would suggest you get a filter by "Aqua Clear" i've had experience using undergravel and this one and i prefer aqua clear.. they're just like miniature external filters :lol: i love them!! oh and i dont think they're too dear for the quality and easy maintenance... the one i got is the 200 series which pumps 200 gallons per hour (in my 2ft tank so thats like 20x per hour! ) i got a big filter in case i want to upgrade to a 4ft hehe.. there are of course different sizes.. but the 200 series will probably be big enough for you 4ft tank.. the price for the 200 series ranges from $65-$75 from store to store.. but its damn good! comes with foam and carbon.. and u can also add ammonia absorber too.. (the next size up is probably costs around $10 more i think..............) highly recommended by me anyway.. just wanted to share.. your decision

not sure if u all check this again... but to answer some questions.... i know my tank is overpopulated... but cant afford another tank/filter/heater (my mistake for buying to many fish )... tho i will upgrade in the future when my clown loaches have grown a bit big... they're still not too big at the moment..... my next tank will be just for the clowns :lol: my kuhli's come out during feeding time... i doubt they're spawning.. how do u know which is male/female? at the moment they're about 6cm.. well anyway u all sound like a bunch of really nice people.. im sure i'm gonna enjoy it in here
