  1. I will keep an eye on the affected ones over the next 24 hours, and if it looks worse i shall remove them. this is obviously a common problem with neons or tetras in general? In which case are cardinals seem to be pretty similar (as a replacemnet fish) are they as hardy and easy care, as well as not growing into a big fish (don't have much space!)?
  2. I had one tetra about 2 months ago that lost all his red colouring on the back half, got a curvature in his back and I actually ended up putting him out of his misery. Now, I see a couple more are looking like they are losing a bit of red colour in their tails aswell! Is it sitting dormant in my tank, as I am pretty sure that is is this disease, and what should do I do? I have 7 neon tetras, 3 black widow tetras, 2 five banded barbs, a golden bristle nose, a brown spotted bristle nose and 4 golden barbs in a 50 litre tank - will any of them be at risk? Please help me  I seem to get everything going well and looking good, then something else rears up and ruins it!
  3. I have had my bristle nose for around a year now, and within the last week he has been leaving ALOT of excrement around. Decent lenth and all dark in colour.......is this a sign of something bad? I think I am down a neon tetra aswell, could he have ingested him, and this is why his excrememnt is different? I have no idea, and am so fond of him that if something is wrong with him i have to fix it! please help me
  4. The dimensions of the tank are 600x30x30mm. When I brought the fish they went from a dimly lighted tank at the store into mine (my avatar shows my tankwith the lighting on). I have actually put a layer of newspaper between the light and the tank so as to try and filter it a bit - and just brought some big leafy plastic plants (real ones seem a bight daunting to take care of in a tank my size?) to shelter the fish as well. My neon tetras and bristle nose do not seem to mind the light, and my five banded bard take a little time to adjust when its turned on. I have had all my water levels checked - apart from my drift wood rotting which i believe is behind my PH dropping (which i have under control - that I CAN deal with myself!), there is nothing else wrong. Would I just be better to trade in my 3 tetras for something different, as the others seem fine? maybe that particular fish just doent like me
  5. Hi Everyone, I have had my 55 litre tank for about a year now - not as easy as I though it would be, thats for sure! Anyway, I recieved a light from my mother-in-law (back when she had an aquarium) and I believe that it is the cause for my Black Widow Tetras losing their colour. When the light is off they regain their black apperance, but once it is on they hide from it and their colour fades. The bulb is a "Quick 20w start, 55 Daylight" and I think its what my problem is. What kind of bulb should I have in it?
