Hello Today I got some more neons with plans to breed them. I understand the parents need conditioning first probally with white worms is easiest?(if anyone has a start up culture send me a pm). Then you put the neons into a tank slightly acidic and soft water(how do I do this?) marble substrate a few fake plants water temperature about 23C if I understand. Usig rain water is suggested I heard(what does this do?) the neons breed at dawn or dusk to my understanding. Then remove parents once eggs have been laid. Blacken/darken the tank bc the eggs are light sensitive. After a few days they should be free swimming. Feed them green water or infusoria and after a week or so? Feed them microworms. Any more suggestions? Thanks

&c:ry Im a bit sad now. My puffer has just pasted away. Looked to be some sort of fungus on his fins. They were white at the ends and sort of fluffy/like a cotton ball. Any ideas on this? &c:ry That seems to be the killer of all 3 puffers i've owned. Thats the end of puffer keeping for me.

Yeah a small sponge filter probally doesnt do more than 20L an hour hes got whiteish fins? any ideas

He not really quarantined. Hes in a smaller tank inside his tank. He is in the tank alone anyway. hes on his back still breathing though.

my DP was sitting next to the intake of the filter(sponge). I have turned the filter off and put him in a small quarantine tank added some aqua septic and some stress coat!!! any other ideas?! he is still breathing HELLLP!!!!

Hi To start off with you will need a bigger filter. Im running a 200L tank with 700L of filtration and a 15cm RES. Since you have 3 of the turtles I would suggest getting a larger filter http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/F ... 992687.htm. Something like this would work well. This just means you wont have to do AS MUCH maintenance. Cant see anything wrong with the heater. You will need a heater guard so the turtles dont kick and break the heater. Lights Ok But I would suggest getting a fixture something like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/R ... 898731.htm Im unsure if it will fit your bulb thought. I would suggest a fairly large container for them(ie 60L+). I know how expensive reeves are so you wont have a lot of cash left over I would imagine. Good luck Happy Turtle Keeping. Hello My ATBA Looks like this sort of http://www.turtleforum.com/forum/upload ... try1065115. I am having problems getting enough light underneath my ATBA for the plants I have there. I was just going to use a piece of glass for the bottom with some astroturf(or turtleturf?) but I dont want my turtle sitting on bare glass. Any ideas? Yes I was pondering the idea of egg crate but I couldnt find nothing! I tried light diffusers, pretty much every lighting store across the country and all the local hardware stores didnt have anything?! And also condensation. Since the ATBA wil be covering the majority of the tank there will be condensation underneath the bottom of the ATBA where the turtle will breathe. Any ideas on how to solve this dilemma? Thanks FYI it is for a turtle and ATBA=above tank basking area

Yeah Im just going to move them in the car. Its only 1 1/2 hrs to taupo from here. Then 3-4hrs to home. So just 1/3 water 2/3 air? Will go out to the shops today(if the weather fines up) or tomorrow. Will actually pick the fish up from the shop on Thursday once we leave.

Hello On thursday I will be shipping 2 Dwarf puffers from Hamilton To Taupo, And then back to kapiti. I will double bag them, Heat pack, Poly Box and some Scrunched up newspaper. Is there a certain water to air ratio? Would adding "pure" oxygen help them so they wouldnt run our of air? So then you could add less air and more water. Any suggestions is welcome. Thanks
