Is there any web-sites or stuff I can get to make this shift as stress free for the fish and me as possible. Any ideas or information directed too will be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot :dunno:

  6. Morning all. The End of the year for one of my Bristle nose fish has ended badly. This bristle nose has over the last couple of weeks started losing I think her colour as this fish was rather medium in size compared to my other bigger ones and had no whiskers and had started getting real pale. Does anyone have an idea why this may have happened, I do weekly water changes and all other fish in 160litre tank look fine including about 6 other bristle nose, 11 tetras, 1 rainbow, 2 dwarf and 3 loaches. Will do water tests and water change today. Any ideas what happened and how I can prevent this happening again in the future. Thanks so much. :smot:
  7. Ok, back with the easy questions for some but I struggle, My orange gourami more rounded fin, as I read some where looks like she has like swallowed a marble, this I first noticed a couple of days ago, she has had the major runs, like the longest poo ever but clear, she has looked fine apart from those signs up into tonight. Tonight well she swimming on an angle and just found her laying on the bottom of tank on her side, now she is in weed, to me she aint looking to good at all. All tank specs are good. Any ideas. Cheers

    PH Spike

Standard Vacuum gravel and wipe down of glass,, but the filter did chuck out some black as dust for twenty odd seconds and hung round for a few minutes, I changed filter contents tonite also, so thinking that may have been the cause. Cheers

    PH Spike

Hi All, The Novice fish-keeper is back,, Have had my 160Litre tank humming really really well for years, with weekly to fortnitely cleans and PH , Ammonia and Nitrate always with good readings. Until today I woke to one of my red eye tetras dead at the bottom of the tank and my PH Level as high as a kite 8.4- 8.8, ammonia and nitrate still fine. My question is what would make the PH sky rocket, I did a clean last week-end and all seemed fine have added to fish Dwarf Gourami'sthe day after clean. What makes PH spike? have done a water change tonite and will check again tomorrow. Any ideas on why my PH may have spiked will be greatly appreciated. Cheers :dunno:

  18. Blue planet tank160 litre,, PH 7.4,, Temp is 26 C, Im still confused how you measure the hardness of the tank. Ammonia test yellow 0 ppm and nitrite test light blue O ppm Food feeding them at moment is Nutrafin Max Plus earthworm flakes and bits freeze dried Tubifex worms, Nutrifin Max flake food and Nutrifin max Spirulina Algae Tablets, and in weekends for a weekend special they get Frozen Blood Worm. Cheers
  19. Morning all. Sad days i have lost 3 fish in as many days all B R's, I bought 6 in the week-end (saturday) and put them with my tetras, catfish and loaches,Community. They havnt taken to the change at all well,,they have slowly been dropping off, 1 Monday night, 1 yesterday(found passed away in floating at the top of an aquarium orniment) and 1 last nite, major gasping in the top of the tank, up and down tank walls darkerning in colour. Another morning arizes an yet another B R, visiting the top of the tank doing laps at the top. WHY I ASK?. Please help. Obviously i have had the 160 litre tank now for about 5 month, these were my last fish to add, as i thought I may be over crowding tank with to many more, has this latest purchase over crowded the tank already? PH has always been high and never changed since have had tank, and other fish seem to have been thrieving, nitrite and ammonia has always been the same also,, i test twice weekly and do water changes once weekly also. My tank has live plants and grow well, i am only new so see this as a major challenge as to why they are dropping off is it stress?? i did a water change 20% on the sunday, and i know they were new to the shop on the Friday,,has there been to may shocks to the system??? I have 3 Red eye tetra, 8 Penquin tetra, 3 Bristlenose catfish, and 3 Zebra Loaches, they all seem to be doing really well.. any ideas would be great and helpful,,,Thanks in advance.

    snails

have a fishtank which has 11 large Tetras red-eye and peguion and 3 Bristle nose catfish, 14 fish total, 160 litre tank. But one thing that is becoming very prominant is the number of snails in the tank. tank is about 3 to 4 months old. How many sorts of snails are out there?, how do i get rid of the snails? are the snails helping the tank run so well? is there a tropical fish that eats snails. Thanks in advance. :dunno:
  23. One of our Red eye tetra's, seemed to have lost its Black Tail colour 1st thing this morning,, Have gone back half an hour later and it is black again,,is this normal?? Does there colour fade over nite?? Thought the fish was sick..as still in learning stage. Thanks in advance..
