  1. What are the dimensions of the filter basket in an eheim filter? I have 50*50*3cm 10PPI sheets for $45 delivered. If your looking for a specific size flick me a PM with more information
  2. Yes as mechanical filtration. Because of the high flow rate experienced in a canister filter biological filtration is a hard to achieve without slowing the rate. I would suggest the 10ppi density to aid the high flow rate.
  3. What can I say I get nervous in front of a camera. Inform me of your birthdate and Ill ensure you get a mixtape(CD) of serious backing music.
  4. At the moment those sizes 50*50 make the most sense to save on wastage. I am able to cut down to 33*33 pieces in some thicknesses. I have just put together another order that is pre cut in the factory with sizes such as 33*33 33*50 50*50 100*100 in thickness 3, 5 and 7.5cm and in 4 differing densities.
  5. Good question 2 factors are key. 1 that the foam used is open cell allowing water to flow throughout thereby giving that massive internal surface area. The sponge you find in cushions, scourers are all closed cell. They will hold water but don't have the benefit of the surface area. 2 that there are no mold inhibitors used in the fabrication process. We opted on Poret because of the high quality and long life span. With cheaper open cell foam which I have also tried, I found the cell structure would over a short time collapse and show signs of shrinkage due to the pressure exerted. Sometimes in life you do get what you pay for. More information can be found on the website in my signature. We offer HM Filters for 2ft - 3ft std sized tanks for $45 delivered to your door. This includes the uplift which just needs to be connected to air-pump.
  6. Healing up well we think. A chance of stricture in a few months time.
  7. Haha , yes that is what it says. My partner and I are constantly debating the Ammonia reading. I think it is zero, she thinks it is just above zero and hence “rounds it up” to be precautions. The water holding tank (where I condition the water before use) has the same reading as this tank so we are not worried about the results at all, but as a rule of thumb we always watch the ammonia very closely. Given this is a brand new tank set up (3 weeks old) with quite a high stocking density I am really pleased with the ammonia readings, it has never gotten to a level I am worried about. How is your Hamburg Matten Filter/divider working for you?
  8. Woohoo my very expensive guard dog is home. She still has a tube into her tummy which we use to provide foul tasting meds. So far so good. She has dropped all muscle, very supermodel/gaunt. Thanks again to veterinary staff.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-b31spofsg Enjoy
  10. Cheers she is a tough wee pooch, she is hanging in there. Thats a negative on the Poret foam, but she might have to breathe through one of our uplift pipes.
  11. On Saturday morning my mongrel dog swallowed a piece of cartridge from a knee joint. Being an orphanage kid, SPCA, she wolfed it down. Unbeknownst to us a bit lodged in her throat. It went unnoticed as she was still eating, mushy food on advice from vet. Long story short Monday evening I rushed her to Massey Veterinary clinic, where they stuck a camera down her throat and tried to pull it out. Failing this it had to be pushed into the stomach. The cartilage ripped her esophagus which started leaking air and stomach juices. Yesterday she had open surgery to wrap some stomach? lining to patch the whole in her throat. She is in ICU at the moment. You never realise how special somethings are until they're taken away. If you have a dog, take it for a walk and enjoy how wicked cool they are. Just no knee joints. Have a good day
  12. Sorry about that . I have just rejigged things a bit. I love technology. The video should be available on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15DEKz0cJb8 in a little while.
  13. After much deliberation my partner and I have purchased a new tank. Thanks Peter from Port Nicholson Glass. It measures 210 x 70 x 50. Way better for cichlids than our long narrow fry tank. We have set it up using the Hamburg Matten Filter system. We will putting it through its paces in the most transparent way possible. Here is our setup video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15DEKz0cJb8 Enjoy
  14. Don't know about jet star but Air NZ are awesome, just be real confident, don't look back. Think Johnny Depp in Blow
  15. Cher, gutted to have seen I had left one unnecessary text link in the video. Guess I was too excited to get it out there. Does no one know the name of the long spindly half yellow fish swimming on the reef. First time I had seen one of those.
  16. I mentioned in another thread that I visited an exporter friend of mine in the Cooks recently. This is the quick video I put togther showing his stock and some of the diving. I have tried to identify species but am just not that knowledgable with marines. If you know the name or if I have made a mistake , please enlighten me. https://vimeo.com/47378986 Enjoy
  17. Not a bad idea. I have recently spent some time with a tropical marine fish exporter based in the Cook Islands, over beers we discussed NZ as a market for him, but due to smaller import numbers it just isnt viable, so if perhaps we had single distribution the required numbers could be met. Ill put up a video later this week showing some of his stock on hand, unfortunately it was just after he had sent out a shipment, and some deep water species on a dive
  18. No worries there mate. I use it quite a bit and haven't had any issues. Make sure you cable tie the connections in place.
  19. I bought some in from Germany recently after having used it back home.Awesome stuff .Have some bits going spare at the moment. I have a post in Private trade and exchange. Pm for more details.
  20. It would be killer as a Betta barracks
  21. Tank was designed with the set in mind, its only 300 wide and 500 high. Its got a laminated base and takes a few people to move it,so i couldnt imagine how heavy a 4m must be.
  22. Cheers, Should have had the camera handy today. The a.Jacobfreibergei were breeding with 2 females trying to spawn at the same time with dominant male. Uncanny to watch with cuckoos harassing them. Its this type of behavior that I enjoy.
  23. I was fortunate enough to have recently been involved with a film being shot in my local area. I was the 'fish wrangler" and stocked the tank with some fish. The tank in question was made by Port Nicholson glass and measures 3m x .3m x.5m. Very heavy For the actual shooting we had to herd the fish into position for the tight shots. Was a very cool experience. As payment I got to keep the tank and stand, which has just been installed in the garage. I have divided it into 7 separate enclosure with PORET foam in different densities and will be running a submersible that pipes the water to the far end of the tank. Yes it would be great to use it as a show tank but its just not feasible at the moment.
  24. I really like the tight shot of the egg as its scooped up. The whole process seems so alien. Hopefully the Cuckoo`s will get in on the mix.
