  1. COOL 8) Link. Im supprizd there are none in NZ. Would have thought there would have been small ornamental ones.
  2. Sockeye, Chinook and Atlantic Salmon are allowed to be farmed in New Zealand. I am not interested in keeping illeagle fish. I was only wondering if people had special licences to keep them, being an aquaria forum I thought this would be the place to find out.
  3. Hi. Does anybody here keep freshwater sharks?
  4. Do I have to club them or can I kill them with an Oskar?
  5. We havn't had a flood for a long time so that may be another reason the goldfish are able to breed
  6. Thanks. Worth looking into!
  7. Whyle out trapping guppies, I caught a few Gambusia. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with them as they were a by catch. I was targetting Guppies. Am I supposed to put them back? Am I supposed to kill them? and if I kill them, What am I supposed to do with them once they are dead? If I accadently catch Gambusia, Am I allowed to feed them to an Oscar? What a dillema!!!
  8. I went out again tonight with my spotlight and net. I would have had another fryd goldfish but it was smaller and it went through my net. There were hundreds of eels. Whats the law on selling live eels to keep in tanks?
  9. Thanks. Very interesting.
  10. Turns out it was a goldfish. Wonder how it got in our river. Im actualy surprized it lived. There are hundereds of eels there. It did have a fin nibbled at. Might see if I can catch some more
  11. :happy1: Turns out, it's a Carassius (Goldfish). Wich is Great news that Rudd is not in our river.
  12. It didn't have bright fins. quite dull. It did look like a gold colourd goldfish with mullet eyes. Would love it if someone could identify it from my bad photography.
  13. Needed lots of salt. The garlic butter was good with it. :nilly:
  14. I know SamH. My post was meant as a joke too.
  15. Im really hoping its not. It would be sad if they are in our river. There were hundreds of eels, Short and Long fin. I also saw small Koura and other little water shrimpy things, so it is a good sign that there is tonnes of life.
  16. Thanks Joshlikesfish. What kinda Guppys? Poecillia Reticulata? I here you can get fancy colours? Can you get albino guppys? What about Red Platies? Do they live in similar conditions to Gambusia? Could I breed them in a trough?
  17. Clearly, it is not a good idea to keep any of these fish. Thanx for the offer for the tv, but I have no power and not into stolen stuff. Stay away from the P mate. Too many of my friends have lost too much over that stuff. It's just not worth it. Good luck my friend. I went eeling tonight and caught heaps. I saw this fish hanging by the bank so I netted it. Is it a Rudd? will let you know how it tastes.
  18. Is this a Rudd? I went eeling and cought a dozen eels. I could have filled my sack with how many there were. I saw this fish hovering by the bank so I quickly netted it. Is it a Rudd?
  19. I think some1 is getting Guppys and Hippys mixd up. I don't think Guppys would sell your TV to buy P. I was hoping to catch the Gambusia to make fry to feed my fish. I ended up going eeling tonight as my mate died yesterday and smoked eel would be appreciated. Caught a dozen eels and what I think must be a Rudd?
  20. Hi. Does anyone keep Gambusia (mosquito fish)? Would they get along with goldfish? or would they eat goldfish eggs or be eaten? CHEERS.
  21. You can also buy Hawk decoys. The common scarecrow might also be a fun thing to try.
  22. Sounds like keeping Koi is a silly idea. Are there any catfish that would be ok in a pond? Does anyone know if there are Rudd in the Waitangi River or trubutaries? or does anyone have any 4sale? Cheers
  23. Rudd. Whats that? Sounds like I need to do some reading about Mullet. Thanx for the tip Stella. Will visit the library next week, now that I have a reason to update my membeship.
  24. &c:ry Mullet, Don't they need running salt water? I only have fresh water from the bush on a trickle. Koi are amaizing in the japanese gardens. Would love to have some but don't want to be raped in jail. I have a big dog that would be happy to guard the pond from thieves that could jepadize the risk of them escaping. Does anyone have any type of larger carp for sale? Koi or other? I guess thats what I'm after. My goldys are pretty but would like something bigger. There must be something I could get my hands on? :dunno:
