  1. Hi guys, anyone have or know of members breeding any Ikola. Trying to get back into keeping and breeding trophies again
  2. thanks guys will let you know how i get on!
  3. hey rcon, what do you mean by dont remove like ryan? do you mean to strip them in the main tank within the breeding net? lol any idea how hard it is to strip a fish in a trap thats no more than 10cm x5cm large
  4. sweet as makes sense thanks ryan. when do people strip? i normally do 4-6 weeks .
  5. hey guys, so as some of you know i have 3 female white bands holding at the moment and now thinking okay what is the next stage. In the past ive always stripped but im really interested in the fish and to set up a nursery tank and watch the mother look after the fry if she doesnt loose interest. So i was wondering since i have 3 holding does anyone know if it would be alright to put them together in the nursery tank and they not kill each others fry or if anything they would actually help each other? i dunno, any ideas. like i said i wanna give stripping a break with theese guys have to much respect for them.
  6. Update** I can now confirm that not one.... BUT 3 of my females are holding!!! :happy1: rcon hope your proud
  7. awsome thanks for the heads up Ryan, i will search and see if i can find some recipes. time to get busy in the kitchen :bounce: and yeah your right i really dont expect much from her, her mouth doesnt even look that full compared to my pembas and shes a decent size. Still i will sit and watch fasinated :spop: and see what comes of it. do you know of many others that have white bands?
  8. Great news !! finally after months of trying, this morning i have noticed one of my Dubosi White Bands are holding! :happy1: really realised you have to have water conditions absolutley perfect and good feeding. ALSO droped the temp. last 2nyt by 2 degree's and this is what i found this morning... so i guess that would be a contributing factor. QUESTION. Been using Seachem Cichlid Lake Salt and Seachem Tanganyika Buffer but going through a absolute shit load with initally setting it up and then water maintance. Who else in the community uses this stuff as its pretty dear in price and what are people using as alternatives? I know of coral raising PH and limestone being able to be a buffer but have been told and cautioned not to solely rely on substrates and tend to agree i was never getting the same conditions out of my crush coral subsrate and tank full of dead coral as what i am getting now,
  9. Hey guys, thought i would start a topic as per subject line im keen for ANY Tips and Advice that breeders have out there for their trophues. sure the community would be interested in as well. was more so thinking particular things that you do or use or dont do. besides the usual weekly water change and Ph levels. I have a mature breeding group of White Band Dubosi 8 females and 2 males and really want to try learn and find out more what i can do to try bring theese guys into breeding.
  10. Hey David, have you had any luck with your White Bands breeding? I just got a breeding group this weekend. pretty cool.

  12. Hey guys, Thought it would be interesting to see and ask everyones opion as to what you think would be the most sought after malawi's? not nessesarly rarest but what everyone is after? my thoughts; Electric yellows Demasoni what would kinda come next or above
  13. awsome dude , you have inspired me to give it a go .. haha going to be 2morrow sunday afternoons project exhuast piping you mean for the power supply for the pump???
  14. also wat is up with heat pads????? claim to last 40 hours how ever on an over night when i recieved poly box everytihng was freezing cold EVEn the pad!!! and that was the same for ryan who i did the swap with fianlly picked up pembas and over night freezing cold :-?
  15. well just to let everyone know i ended up using post haste which i really regret. they charged me a whoping $52 to move a poly box over night from aucks to bulls. and the lady was SOOO freaking rude at the depo centre. they where packing the truck and pretty much told me pay it or that box anit going anywhere,. guy i swaped my pembas with used NZ couriers and was way cheaper, anyways i got my shellies over night the next day before 9am they arrived . How ever for him 9,10,11 roleld around and no pembas turned up . freaking out he called post haste and asked what was going on and they had no idea, yeh they use a tracking service but couldnt tell where the parcel was all that it had be droped off the day before (USELESS) . after running it up an hour later we finnaly found out that it was sitting at palmy north depo waiting to be picked up so ryan ended up driving up there to get them intead of waiting around.... just shows the price differance, service and time of arrival differs. would NOT use post haste again. Am currently running up a complaint for the poor service and over pricing... SHAME ON YOU POST HASTE. .
  16. hey bud, where or what foam do you use for the filter? and i presume you dont use any piping as the filter is submerged in the tank
  17. "" generally SA cichlids (kribs) need very soft, acidic water and african cichlids need very hard, alkaline water, so you will not be mixing them in the same tank. "" . . . really dont know what you are doing do yeah? read up buddy advice has been given to you. please listen to it
  18. HFF albany has a group (1m,2f) going for $850 each. They look amazing and so freaking cool ... we can all wish right
