Thanks Caryl. I ending up buying a KH tester and KH up as the girl at HFF convinced me it was needed (no kh level showing). But the guy at the other shop reckons you dont need to worry about KH with the type of fish I have. (Platties, pleco, kribs, gourami). And he still insists I need new gravel. I have been sucking thru the gravel when I change the water once a week - could I be doing that to often? I dont think its my pleco - he is still quite young only about 7cm long I would say.

I have several plants (not sure of type - just standard ones). I have riverstones from my garden which have been in the tank for years and an ornament also been in the tank for years. I change about 15-20% of the water each week. My stones are Autumn Harvest, about 3 years old. I have 4 Kribs, 10 platys, one pleco and 3 gouramis in an AR620 tank. The PH was the lowest yellow on the swatch and I had used PH UP twice already. I hope thats enough information. Thanks for all your help.

Does anyone no anything about gravel affecting PH levels. My tank has a low PH (I thought due to the fact it was cloudy and I added "Tetra clear water"). I talked to my LFS and he said because my gravel is a few years old it has lost its mineral content and if I replace it the PH will stabilise. Then I happened to talk to HFF and they said gravel doesnt need replacing... it could be a low KH level thats effecting the PH. Feeling rather confused and dont want to spend money if it wont fix the problem.

When I have babies I but bigger fish in ice cream container untill I have managed to find all the babies and put them in their own container.

I thought it was white cloudy but seems more green now. I have had the tank going for years but with only a couple of fish in it. I have added quite a few more fish in the last four months. Would a 50% water change help or any chemicals or do I just wait? Thanks for your advice.

Thanks Sam. I was hoping to find something removable. But they dont seem to sell dividers in any of the fishshops I checked out. I did find the suction things which seemed overly expensive.

About a week ago my tank started to go cloudy. I have down a 30% water change and hasnt worked. Infact it seems to be getting worse. Fish all seem fine but would like to fix the problem before it effects them. Does anyone have any advice?

Which shops - HFF is $8.50 for a packet of two.

Don't know about tetras but platys are about $6.95 at Animates and I pay $4.30 for them elsewhere. And they are not the best looking platys either considering you are paying top dollar. Also I brought a tank scruber there not realising I would be at HFF half an hour later. It was almost $3 cheaper there. Its worth the extra 5 min drive to go to HFF.

Hi Richard I am getting into breeding my fish as well and noticed your dividers. Where did you get them? What are they made of. I was planning on getting my husband to make an acrylic divider but like the look of yours. Thanks Amanda
