  1. Oh thanks. I do believe that was the one I stumbled across awhile ago but couldn't remember the name of, which made me start the blog topic. You are awesome.
  2. This may be a little random but I wanted to know if anyone on here keeps a fish keeping blog or knows of any good ones? It's Friday and I need something to keep myself amused and I quite enjoy seeing what others are keeping and the different ways people do things. Thanks.
  3. It's the AR620. 62W x 38D x 53H cm. So twice the size of my first tank. With all the extra space I don't know what to do! I would love to have some aggressive fish but then I would like to transfer two bristlenose so they have more room and can breed when they're big enough. And i'd fancy some more neons or something similar because if it's planted lots of little fish look so much cooler than one or two big fish. And obviously my current fish come first. Maybe i'll move everyone in there when it's set up and keep my smaller tank for my pair of rams? Or buy another breeding pair of something? Convicts are looking like a good idea.
  4. I have no idea! I'm thinking just a big planted community tank could be pretty cool.
  5. Three days...two months...all the same really. I can totally see how everyone else became addicted!
  6. New tank is sitting outside getting cleaned up today. When I find something to put it on that'll hold it's weight it'll be all up and running. New tank = more fish!
  7. Tank is usually around 27 although i've increased it to about 30 at the moment. Am going home to clean a bit of the gravel just in case and will be off to Animates or Four Seasons (why do pet shops have to shut early on Fridays??) after work to decide which treatment i'm using. Will let you know how it clears up. Hopefully all the fish are ok with treatment. Cross fingers for me!
  8. Thank you for that! Not so stressed about it now. I like "Everyone struggles with infestations of "Ick" as a beginner." Means maybe i'm not as stupid as I was starting to think. 8)
  9. Thank you for that. I'm really worried about the rams. They just don't seem to be as hardy. I have a golden balloon who looks fine and the blue male seems to be ok, i think I could see a tiny white spot on the female though. Last night I could hardly sleep because I wanted to check on them because she didn't look so good. This morning all her colour is back and brighter than it has been and she's swimming around alot which makes me happy. I just don't want to risk anything because i'd be so upset if I lost them.
  10. Thanks. I assumed that would be the case. I know i'm being silly i've just seen a million things about cures this morning and i've gone a bit mad.
  11. Ok so i'm officially freaking out. I bought 10 neons from Animates maybe two weeks ago. One was a bit deformed (i would assume due to breeders not culling the bad ones) and died, which was sad but probably for the best. I still have nine left and a few have white spot, it's just showed up alot in the last 24 hours. I've been searching for a cure everywhere and there's so many different ones. I'm planning on a trip to the pet store after work tonight but I wanted some ideas as to what to buy because I sometimes have my doubts about the people that work at some of the shops, and don't always know if they're selling me the right thing. The neons live with a couple of rams, and bristlenose, all of which seem to be looking alot better. I like the idea of being able to treat them with salt but I wanted to find someone who had similar fish, as some websites say neons and rams don't tolerate salt and some say they can. It's all a bit much for my beginner brain. I want to get it sorted asap because it's my first bad experience and even though I know it can be sorted I tend to get upset anyway. I'm scared I might lose a couple of neons but I don't want to lose the rest as well. If I can't use salt and have to use treatment do I take my plants and filter stuff out? How do I clean it all out post treatment so I don't stress my fish? Currently looking at buying another tank to use as a hospital tank because I don't think I can deal with such a scare again! Newbie fish keeping advice anyone? Thank you!!
  12. Oooh we have progress. I'm sitting at work looking at fish stuff trying to plan my next project and I get a txt about getting a new tank. I'm buzzing about like a little child. The excitement may just kill me.
  13. I'm in Pakuranga. Haha yeah I think new tank will be happening super soon. I think I witnessed my partner roll his eyes at me yesterday when I was complaining that the fish needed more room. Obviously if you blame it on them "needing" a new tank and not me wanting one then it'll work. I'm a thinker. 8)
  14. Just thought i'd introduce myself! I'm Steph, from Auckland, newbie tank owner. I have a couple of bristlenose, neons and a pair of blue rams and super excited about getting another tank in a couple of months when I manage to make room for it! Looking forward to learning more and seeing what everyone else keeps! Hopefully will pick up some good advice.
