thanks for your input but i have actually found out today by putting it with a totally different female its a male grrr hopefully now my male and his 2 girls will start spawning fingers crossed

could you maybe take one do you know for sure its a female??? have you vented it? sorry but i have just brought a breeding colony of giraffes and they were ment to be 1 male 3 females which make me when i paid for the fish and the shipping and ya dont get what ya pay for!!!!!

hi there our tank is 700 litre so they have alot of space i just them sent from up norththey are all very large fish the actual male is around 23cm and the 2 females that are females are about 18-19cm and this other one im not sure about is around the 23cm to!!!!! it has quite alot of blue showing in its face but then again looks different to the male it self :-? the people i got them off said they were brought and vented as 1 male and 3 females i had them all in together but noticed abit of damage to the big male and the he/she :-? lol so i took the he/she out and left the big male in with the 2 girls they seem to be doing alot better we had them in the tank but them selfs when they first came but now were r-arranging our tanks and putting some of our other cichlids in with them like our red empress and afra's and electric yellows, auratus's if you have an email address i can send you a pic of the giraffe im not sure about and another thing it has quite abit of the yellow blaze down its nose where my females dont have any?????? cheers

well i think the fee's are abit rank actually it cost us to list things then they take sucess fee's to!!!! then as soon as your accounts in dept they send an email saying please credit your account :roll: but then again it is a good place to sell and buy!!!!!!!!!

hmm they shouldnt be fighting if they are still small in size if they were male and female they dont start breeding till they are quite large like 3inches plus!!!!maybe you have 2 males but then again i have 2 in a different tank and i know ones male its about 12cm and the others around 9cm and i think its male to but they dont fight only real way is to vent them but yours would be abit small to vent at the mo!!! has your bigger one got any yellow or blue colouring????

i just seen this- The dominant male will display the brightest colors, and will usually not permit subdominant males to mate with any females of the same species in the tank. In certain species, less dominant males actually acquire female coloration in order to avoid confrontations with the dominant male. In all-female groups, many times a dominant female will acquire male coloration.w for sure.

talk about nerious i kept on waking up during the night calling post haste to see if they had arrived yet lucky they are just down the road and was aloud to pick them up early!!!! so far so good they look great in there new kingdom 650litres to them selfs they have got to be happy :lol: :bounce: ill try work out how to up load some pics and show yas,,, can believe how pretty and big they are and the chick threw in a extra 5 greshakei ice blue red tops for free the most amazing colours of the male is unreal hopefully get a breeding trio :bounce: :bounce: i think i have enough africans for now lol gotta stop buying fish :roll: :bounce: ill get told off soon!!!!!! hehe

i went to pick them up this morning at 5:45am got home and all fish are perfect all the heatpads were still warm and the bags still full of air amazing wonderworld done an awesome job of packing them!!!!

lol yes the things we do for fish :roll: but ya gotta love them!!! yeah i got heavy duty bags sent over from oz from my mum at there LFS.. big thick massive bags it actually only cost me $80 all up for shipping the lady im getting them through has conections to wonderworld come on tomo morning i say!!! ill let ya know tomo how they got on

hello mine are rather large the male is 23cm and 3 females are between 18-20cm we made a 600-700 tank just for them lol cant wait to get them probably lose sleep tonight worrying about them hope they will be ok wonderworld has packed them all up so fingers crossed

yay finally my breeding colony of nimbochromis venustus giraffes are on there journey to me fingers crossed all goes well :bounce: i hope tonight goes super fast cant wait to pick them up in the morning :bounce:

yay congrats to you spoon :bounce: :bounce: i striped my sunshine peacock yesterday to when i strip mine i fill up a ice cream container and carefully open there mouth with a tooth pick and they seem to all come out with abit of a wiggle from the mum!! i got about 30-40 fry all swimmers :bounce: :bounce: this would be my second lot of fry from them the first lot are nearly 2cm another female is holding quite a mouth full im going to be over load in peacock fry soon lol!!! we have electric blue fryeri to now still only small 1cm id be keen to swap some fry when they get abit bigger if you wanted some sunshines??? ...

i have a common plec hes rather large and a smaller one and a bristlenose all in my 700 litre my lil house maids lol.. oh and a yellow algae eater!!! but he picks on my africans a wee bit hes full size and very grumpy though..

ive just noticed about an hour ago my venustus cichlids almost dead it is goulping and he kinda just floating around so we got it out and had a look down its mouth there looks to be a big meat looking pink in colour bit of inside at the back of its throat what could it be??? it isnt a pellet we thought about that!!!!! and checked its jaw has kinda dropped down looking like a holding female :-? but its not holding!!!! any ideas i really dont think it will make the night

what we have breeding at the mo are - electric blue fryeri brownae haps red empress electric yellow sunshine peacock afra auratus :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
