  1. Doesn't change the meaning. I said it works. Then said why I don't use it. Layton
  2. Like I said, you obviously weren't paying attention: 11th Feb 2005 http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/zeovit ... html#57764 17th Feb 2005 http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/zeovit ... html#58689 18th Feb 2005 http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/zeovit ... html#58894 17th June 2005 http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/reefce ... html#77529 So you see wasp I have not just changed my tune. I've been saying this all along (there are countless more examples too). If only you had been paying attention rather than labelling me as a zeobasher, you may have realised this. Prove it. 3. What "fancy gadgetry" do I have on my tank? My tank is about as basic as it gets. Skimmer, UV, Lighting, Flow, an more recently a calcium reactor. Don't run phosphate absorbers (never have), don't run carbon. Don't use any additives. Clearly your not interested in what you are putting in your tank, or how it works. You clearly still can't get past the fact that I have said all along that zeovit works. In your dicussion/argument you STILL keep coming back to the fact that zeovit works. Which has nothing to do with what i'm saying. I'm saying that parts of the mechanism behind HOW zeovit does what it does is not what I want going on in my tank. I never said a photo proves nothing. All it proves is that your corals are colourful, it doesn't prove HOW they became colourful. Layton
  4. Evidence and proof are two different things. All that shows is that zeovit can produce nice coloured corals. I've never disputed that. All i've ever said is that it is the WAY it goes about this that i'm not willing to risk using it in my tank again. I fail to see how a photo is evidence or proof of HOW something works. SO I repeat, I have yet to see any proof of how zeovit works at all. You may be surprised wasp. Believe it or not it is possible to achieve that pink monti colour without zeovit. Layton
  5. It's not unprovable. Layton
  6. Well, your definition of proof and what a scientist would constitute as proof are two VERY different things. I have yet to see any proof of how zeovit works at all. Layton
  7. Nope. Just a bit of common sense.
  8. Well a lot of things about it point to a couple of highly probable suspects, including a comment by the creator Pohl regarding metals and aquaria. Of course there is no proof, just some very interesting evidence. Layton
  9. You are the ones using it. Surely you know what you're putting in your tank? Layton
  10. Clearly you weren't paying attention during all those discussions. I've said that all along. Ever since I tried the stuff. I just don't like how they work. That's why I no longer use them. I think if people knew what they were putting into their tank, they would be surprised. Layton
  11. yeah boro-silicate just has a low thermal expansion coefficient, so it doesn't crack as it's heated, and can stand thermal gradients across it's surface. Layton
  12. Not dismissing the results they bring. They are unnecessary to bring the results that people who use it desire however. IE there are other ways of achieving similar results, without magic potions. Layton
  13. They "work". Like I said, If only you knew what you were paying for. Layton
  14. I'm not dismissing the results at all. Layton
  15. That's a pretty big generator. Dunno what sort of fans you trying to power.
  16. If only you knew what you were pay for. ;-)
  17. Yip boro-silicate glass is pretty much pyrex, it can handle the heat gradients of MH but also provides UV blocking. Layton
  18. Maybe the light was too high. Many people find they can drop their photoperiod when running lower nutrients, until the zooxanthellae readapt to the added light and lower water nutrients. Layton
  19. I find that it's far more important to focus on get stuff out of the tank rather than putting in a whole screed of unnecessary products. Layton
  20. If it's food, sps corals would suffer from massive obesity problems in our tanks ;-) Imagine if you scraped all the living tissue of all the SPS corals in your tank and put it into a little vial. How much actual living tissue would you have? Now how much "food" does it take to support that? Yet some people say that you can get phosphate down to levels which are too low to support sps corals, and the quote "ideal" levels which are actually a sign a eutrophication in nature. Something doesn't make sense. You could try you absolute hardest to obtain an ultra "low" nutrient tank and it would still contain more than enough of the required "nutrients" to support corals. So saying that you like having some nutrients is a bit strange, as you are almost always guaranteed that you'll have enough of the nutrients people commonly talk of, in fact there is usually too much of them. SCARLET

It kind of annoys me when I read that. The primary reason why prices in Auckland are no longer as high as they were is because Petworld in Christchurch are no longer supplying them. That was the cause of the high prices seen up there a few years ago. Both Alois and Steve have helped bring prices down to match other areas (Christchurch in particular). But the insinuations I read on this forum seem to credit Steve/Nick single-handedly for the price drops in Auck over the last few years, I don't think that's true at all. Layton
  22. yip, you don't need an email address to sign up, just a user name for the address which will be: http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/username Layton
  23. ok your base address is http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/faysmarinetank/ so all the files which you have uploaded go into the directory. You can then access them by linking to http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/faysmarinetank/filename.jpg So the smaller image that you uploaded had a massive name (January 2005 109 306x350 292x335 287x330 286x329 282x325 227x320.jpg) I remaned it to January 2005.jpg and is accessible here: http://www.nzreefs.com/sites/faysmarinetank/January%202005.jpg It's best to avoid long names as they are a pain to type, and also really long names cause problems on the web.
