  7. Yea I do, but there is a difference between intentionally and accidentaly. In my case it was accidental, I sure as hell didn't see it coming...........
  8. Yes I know all about this situation so very well also.....
  9. You all have some really good points to raise. If I was to keep what has been bred, and try and breed those ones only, I wouldn't know if they were fertile/sterile or not as I have read and been told most hybrids are unbreedable. I don't doubt that these hybrids are good looking fish, they look very healthy and very good sized, I have not noticed and deformities in any of them. I read yesterday when doing some research on this issue, that the hybrids should never be sold on as it will cause controversy as the breed they are and renaming them etc, so I'm a little unsure as to what to do, I do like the new fish I have, and I have quite a few of them all ranging in size. I would like to keep some of them, and see if they will breed if it's possible for them to breed that is.
  10. I have a breeding of Panda cory's and 1 sinlge male Smudge cory, as it turns out I discovered last night this smudge spot has bred with my pandas and I now have young corys that look like pandas but with spots and some older ones that look like tail spots. I thought my son had been rearranging my fish again so had to double check all my 5 tail spots were still where I put them, and they were, I was astonished at this discovery. I have never come across this before, I just been told cross bred cory's wont breed (infertile/sterile). I am getting smudge spot cory next week, I will moving this male smudge spot today to a separate tank..... As for the young cross what do I do with them there is at least 10 of them ranging in size and age.

  14. The tank is 140L, he could be eating the flake food that drops to the bottom but that's nothing unsual. He has always had bog wood in his tanks the tank has been running for around 8wks now and he was introduced 2 wks after set up and has only started to redden up while baby sitting babies 3wks old now. Yes he is going red all over. Will try getting and loading pic tomorrow, all my lights shut off at 9pm

  17. Thanks Supasi.... She's not on eggs, but I thought it maybe something to do with that but wanted to check it out first... it does look as though he is trying to hide from her... (huh of all males LOL) Think he is changing his mind his is all of sudden getting his colours back........
  18. I have a breeding pair of keyholes, the male is dull in colouring has lost his black markings and just sits next to the filter above the bubblewall. He looks to be breathing fine and has no signs of injuries. The female looks stunning, very vibrant and brightly coloured as if she is ready to breed. All water parameters are perfect.... Amonia, nitrite, nitrate 0, PH 7.2 Temp at room temp is 26-27.. Any ideas what could be his worries????
  19. Maybe an option to move the other fish until fry are big enough to catch and move them and parents to a seperate tank and the other fish may try and eat the babies, I have breeders of convicts and had to do the same in 4ft tank so 28 fish only had half of the tank while the pair of convicts and babies had the rest of the tank, I had to move them as the fish were very stressed and short spaced...
  20. I agree with many of these posts, it is hard to accept sometimes, but no one really ever knows why some of their fish die... I have hundreds of fish and have had a few mortalities for various reasons but when you're in the fish business you need to learn to accept it, as it will happen more often then you wish. As Skippy_49nz said it's hard when your dog or cat or dies then it is a fish.....(experience talks)...
  21. Sounds like a fungal infection try adding Furan 2 may help may not...
