ok sounds algood, does it cost to be in the killie club,il do some research id say il just try the one male one female, see how that goes, then go from their so hopefully im lucky with them
if i have to wait a couple of weeks i guess thats what i have to do doesnt worry me really cause i could raise them up aswell,so many ways for fish to breed,im forever learning so much bout them, even have got the gf into it for valentines day with a small tank with guppies, roughly how many eggs do u get from a young pair and when refering to a pair is that 2 females to 1 male or just the 1 male and 1 female,
ok thanks ryan, just rang jan who sold me the fish, they were sold as a mixed lot however she had separate tanks for the zebras, the powder blues and electric yellows had their own tanks, but when i picked them up were just put in same chillybin, have only had them for 3 weeks so were only with zebras for the 3 weeks that i have had them,
all zebra have been taken out so now just my electric yellows and powder blues, and 2 peacocks, the zebras are being picked up tomorrow,do demasoni cross breed with powder blues as they are in the same Pseudotropheus family
trust me i know, started with a community tank, then changed that to african mbuna cichlids, have dwarf cichlid tank, tank with baby cichlids, and still got 3 tanks to spare
will do some research and keep the pair in a tank by themselves, now separating the zebras so just e yellows and powder blues amd clown loaches left, will keep everyone posted on how i get on,have rung the importer he will get back to me
will upload documentation when i work out photobucket will ask my brother when he gets off the xbox, hopefully it leads to something good,be good to know they are wild caught or whatever,it says they were sent from africa
everyone has said to watch the zebras, when i brought the fish i had no intention of keeping the zebras,i wanted all mbuna cichlids,so am willing to pass on the zebras to fellow fish keepers, the yellow breeding pair are in a tank of their own atm, never put them in the big tank till the zebras are gone,
not to sure, they are a bright yellow peacock,in the light they have the blue irredescent markings on their face, several white spots on the anal fin,yes they were sold to me as powder blues,i tried to find the latin name as thats all everyone seems to use,
the lady got them all from her son in christchurch, who is a private local fish breeder of alot of cichlid species,i got given a clearfile with documentation about the yellows, saying where they were imported from and who imported them and so forth,so i presume they are all ok,as they are maf paperwork,
i brought fish off a lady who was selling up all her fish as her and her husband and pet magpie wanted to tour round country in their caravan,so i brought them as a mixed lot, only had intentions of keeping the powder blues and e yellows,
gota work out how to use the photobucket thing first to get the pictures up,got some nice ones of the male e yellow with his female in his cave, one pwder blue female is holding eggs,so thats all 3 powder blues this month,i am intending on selling on or trading the peacocks and zebras,to just focus on my e yellows and powder blues
lady supplied petshops, will try get a picture of the male ae,his black and yellow is awesome, her son gave them to her with paperwork saying who the importer was and date came in,so was quite rapt when i brought them for $47 got 4 fish, and heaps of free food and magnet cleaner,so pretty good valentines present from the gf i thought
the ones im saying are powder blues are Pseudotropheus socolofi or Pseudotropheus pindani have had 2 lots from my females and got another one holding eggs at the moment, they look exactly like their mum and dad,the yellows are from wild parents so very rich in yellow, they have bred with these fish in the tank before, are all females are stripped and babys raised in their own tank to give mother fish a break and to get her condition back up
oh ok,very keen on breeding killies,i googled lastnight for hours, the amount of different colours u can get is awesome, quite a unique looking fish,iv got a aquastart 380 coming soon,so would put them in that with some black sand, few nice plants,
went to red wood aquatics and saw there little display tank with killies in it,but they not for sale, but so keen on giving some a go,got a few spare tanks lying round and a small aqua one tank due next week so,if any one can help me with some kilis it would be much appreciated
mine have been together since they were little, lady i got them off has had lots of fry from the electric yellows, she supplied petshops in chch with them, they all seem to be good,i mix the caves up every so often to keep aggression down, the kenyis are like 3cm where as my big zebra is bout 10cm he not even interested in them
