  1. Would silicone be suitable to bond the lighting unit clips to the roof of the aquarium lid?? How much weight can silicone hold? The total weight of the lights and reflector isnt very heavy
  2. Ok so called both Hutt pets and Animates $55 a bulb for the 24W T5 HO GLO ones And $39 for the LIFE GLOW, but i dont know what they are like, would they be a cheaper option thats just as good?
  3. http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/prod ... hp?id=1911 For reflectors - warehouse mirrors siliconed to the lip of the tank
  4. Holy cow! lol Idk, it is still in the box, i need to buy some tubes for it first do u have the same tank as me?
  5. This ? and the plants i mentioned in the my other post : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=44226
  6. Heya Stephan I did end up getting one. I got the 24W T5 HO system, it cost me $128 from hutt pets.
  7. Heya you may or not have seen my last post about upgrading my tanks lighting, but i have now brought the lighting fixture i wanted. Its a "GLO T5 HO " 2 x 24 Watt lighting system. I was going to mount it under my tanks lid, and add some warehouse mirrors, and the what i hoped was some cheap lights from the "lighting guy " The lights at the pet store were $40 each for the 24W T5HO 6500K, 10k and also available in 18K, but i couldn't really afford two of them plus the system, so i assumed i could get some from this "lighting guy" theirs are $25 each, but the highest kelvin rating is 6000...? Could i use them and still get very good results? And if your wondering about my brothers tank, it is doing quite nicely, there is some nice growth starting to happen, we have had few problems with allege, but with the water changes it seems to be ok. Ill post pictures if i can find the cam
  8. Hell yea im excited lol, i love this stuff Dont act like you dont hehe
  9. Well if i go for 4 lamps the i should be sweet, and YUS!!!!! about the PMMD !! where u getting yours from?
  10. 76 x 38 x 71 cm (LxDxH) I want to grow hair grass, dont know if that is possible with the depth of the tank.. ? Hey is PMMD just as good as the expensive flourish stuff ?
  11. Are you using florish ? can that be swaped for that PMMD stuff? Im going to stick the same lamps onto my tank, using the $9.95 lamps from the warehouse and the $499 bulbs, 6400K. I was thinking of clipping two on each side as my tank is quite deep the light would need to be stronger... ?
  12. http://www.easylife.nl/english/index.html?id=40 have a look at that, i saw it when i was looking for the Juwel 450s on youtube apparently this tank uses that product :
  13. Lol, maybe. But the idea of it makes me feel sick, pleasure from watching a snail be torn apart? But then i hate all that kinda stuff, i wont kill anything if can avoid it.
  14. I found that that was equal in hardness to read normally spelt words.
  15. omg really? wow, thankgod it didnt break lol that would be a great end to a nice xmas present
  16. oh is it still out of action, wow that was a major set back, im really sorry to here bro. I fear that kinda stuff all the time lol, timers sparking and burning the house down, rocks inside the tank falling and spitting the tank open.. heater boiling the fish... it goes on and on lol Earthquakes tipping the whole bloody tank over! omg lol But yea that sucks about the water problem. So yea, the 6500k lights were going good then? im just interest in the best value way to do things you know?
  17. How is the tank going? 6500k lights ? just wondering how the growth rate is
  18. HairGrass!!!! I love the java fern, but also the Swords.
  19. Yea Dennis, that does make sense. But im on a tight budget lol, warehouse mirrors look good as gold to me lol. 4 watts per Gallon , with the HO-T5 lights would in theory make the tank able to grow anything very well....? Im keen for hair grass and Glosso ! I want to have a jungle
  20. Oh ok, cool. Yea i saw the "high light 150%" sticker, but i wasnt sure what it meant. So its effectively the same as the HO ? What ground covering plants can you grow in that tank? Edit: So your two 54Watt lights + reflectors ( keen for P44 idea) 216 watts total / 240L = 0.9 WPL Is that right? But the tank isnt very deep, and the lights are T5, so it shouldn't really matter the WPL is?
