  1. My tank with a concrete over poly background appears to be growing a brown algie on the parts which get the most light. I set it up about 3 weeks ago and am keeping malawis in it. The concrete was not sealed and the water ph went to around 8 and stabilised at that. The filter is a new sump which I have suplmented with an external canister filter which had been running on another cichlid tank so the tank has not gone through a nitrate/Nitrite shock. Any suggestions on what is causing the brown algie or how to cure it would be appreciated, although to be fair it is not that unattractive on the natural concrete finish. Bill
  2. I haven'y heard anything back from rockwork as that looked the best option. I did also think about fabricating a background out of polystyrene and concrete but thought the chance of spending a lot of money and ending up with a big mess were too great. Regards Bill
  3. I was wanting to use limestone to cover the backwall of 1.8 by .75 tank and am looking for a cheap source in the Auckland region. Also can i just silicon glue it to the back wall or should I put up some sort of plastic frame to hold it. Thanks for your help Bill
