  1. Hey Jaydee! :)

    Well some good news:

Heres yur girl! (well havent checked if its a girl actually!) but Mystic called her Amy (as in Amy Lee from Evanescence) and shes prolly 2ft or so now? Pix dont show her true size, I will see if Mystic can take some more of her, these ones are old ones shes so much bigger now! :o

She was raised in a 6ft, then went into the 8ft once she got to a decent size.

    She's Mystic's baby! :)

Your welcome to come round anytime for a coffee and see her, Mystic's always home.

  2. Mystic and I would like to donate $50 to Rockwork to help with the hire of the Van, Petrol etc.

I know we cant afford it, (being Xmas and all) but Mystic wants to help and so do I! Not that its much at all, but anything to help? I know its expensive to hire anything, and you need to for a whole weekend\week, plus the gas, Food etc. Then the price of the Rockwork itself! I did the math going by the size of the enclosure and the price for the Rockwork, then the instalation and all the time! Hell thats like $2000+! :o

We also know you guys have 4 kids all up, and Xmas is very expensive!

I mean they are doing all this for free off their own backs to help the Park etc, so would like to return that with a small contribution?

    Sorry its not more.

Please send me your account details so we can put some money through as soon as we can get it?

  3. LOL their environment?

It is theirs as they live there. Not their original one no (but then I never said that) but it is currently theirs. So yes.

As long as you're respectful to the environment and to the population of fish then its all good.

But again, you are not being respectful by trampling it all down now are you?

We were given some from someone else, and then passed them on to another fishkeeper (as we ran out of room)

From what we understand, MOST of the one caught by everyone died. Only a few survived, very few.

    What a waste.

  4. I thought taking them as live food was ok too?

People breed them as live food.

Maybe so, but trampling down their enviroment is ok? And scaring the other wildlife (Aquatic and land-based etc)

Each to their own then aye?

Wouldnt want someone to come to my house and trample my home and suroundings.

    But please yourself.

  5. Is it a good idea to be going back to the same place, trampling down their enviroment, scareing the buggery out of the fish and life in and around the area, and taking (potenually killing) the fish?

How many people from the last hunt still have all or most (if any) of the fish they caught or obtained from the last hunt?

  6. Thanx to loving, caring people like you, Lionel now has a great and happy life to live.

Mystic and I have been to see him, and hes got a beautiful setup to live in, and his girls are gorgeous! Hopefully you will be seeing some wonderful 'Mini Lionel's' very soon too! :) You guys are awesome Reptile Keepers with so much knowledge of these wonderful animals.

We are very impressed how well he has recovered, as we remember seeing him in that 'Chain-store City Petshop' years ago. It used to break our hearts to see him there, but was way out of our price range also. :(

It actually discusts us to hear and see they have another in there, and having the SPCA say that they "cant do anything about it due to it being a store so its a 'in and out' senario" makes us wonder what sort of a price they put on these beautiful creatures lives. Its a beautiful 'rare' animal in NZ, that deserves to be taken care of more so because of what it is.

Mystic has fallen in love with Lionel and his girls, and to see him 'bobbing' and kissing his girls today was a wonderful site!

Best of luck with him, and hope to see more of him in the future. :)

  7. Not a great idea mixing a Frons with a Oscar, Oscar will bully the Frons as they can be skittish and shy fish. You need something that can hold its own like JD's, Plecos etc.

The bigger the gravel (for the Oscars) the better, and they will move it all round the tank, including big rocks. Heater guards are good too, as Oscars get huge and can pack a punch if they are chasing something around the tank or get a fright.

Frons are best in a higher PH, or you might find you will loose it in a hurry. (unless raised in lower PH, but still, not good for the fish)

    HTH.

    Best of luck.

  8. Its all funny and all fine to joke around, but ....

Can anyone in Tauranga help with some accomadation for these wonderful people while they are up there helping Mark & Caroline?

They are doing this off their own backs and out of their own pocket, the least we could all do is find somewhere nice and warm for them to sleep while they are there?

Mystic said even if we have to bribe someone with some free Bubba Fish or something? She WILL NOT stand to have them sleep in their Car or Van or even a tent when they are trying to help!

    Anything to help?

    :-?
