  1. When will the next north shore club meeting take place?
  2. Gave up on Malawi's for now till I get a bigger fish room but... Its been a life-long dream to breed these beauties, I had a female (30 cm) spawn on the back of a 60cm holding tank (while preparing a 2m species tank for 3 of them) That was 5 years ago though. Questions: - Where could I buy 10 medium African Jack Knifes (the ones with the dots) - Does anyone have or know of any literiture or websites wich indicates them being bred in captivity?
  3. Thanks for the reply Any Malawi dreeders out there? Have a very Merry Xmas and a Happy new year!
  4. I have been to several Pets shops and Aquatic shops around Aucland and am a bit destressed in the "quality" (nevermind variety) of Malawi's been sold. Years of inbreeding seems to have taken their toll to the point of runts been sold, maybe this has led to the slow sales in Malawi's, colours are just not up to scratch! I was put off by this!! Yes, Malawi's are easy to breed but hobbiest and pet shops alike should be more responsible!! Quantity breeding might make a quick buck now but could have devastating effects later to the species and industry!! I can clearly see the effects of "quantity" breeding in Auckland pet shops. I guess a weeks run around the petshops is not the full picture, could anyone point me to to Clubs, I am on the North Shore, Aukland. Am I being fanaticle, stupid or do others share my views??? Not to sound too negative! I am impressed by the amount (and quality) of Tanga's here, have everyone started breeding them? Merry Xmas Malawimad Ps: Maybe the two dealers I have not visited have the quality!!!
  5. Thanks!! I will apreciate it!! WOW!! Looks like I am coming to the right place!! New Zealanders are surely connected!! Hee hee
  6. Thanks for the welcome!! Looks like I will have to take what i get!! Aulonocara jacobfreibergi is one of my favourites!!! I was doing a little thinking maybe its time for "change". Has anyone manage to succesfully raise Knife Fish in New Zealand! I spawned then before but eggs never hatched!! I am keen on new and different stuff aswell!
  7. Hi all the fishy people!! I'm Terry, like many on this site I will be joining the All Blacks!! (S.A. Rugby just let me down again!!) Hee hee I am from Cape Town (SA) and have been breeding Malawi's + others for about 10years now! I have collected a variety of fish (many strait from the lakes) throughout Africa. I am settling in Auckland with my Fiance! (Getting married soon!!!) Just to show her how much I love her I am leaving my collection behind. ( still trying to get an importer to help me!!!) This must be love or stupdity hee hee!! as I am selling my 5000 fingerlings 5 X 2m tanks and 9 X 1m tanks!! and moving to NZ (December 2003) "WHAT LOVE DOES!!!!" I am comforted by this website and with the hope NZ have alot to offer me in the AFRICAN range? I have already made contact with my first tank in NZ "Thanks to "Trade and Exchange" and "The Claw" hee hee!! I am going to love it there!!! How is the Malawi, Tanga's and Victorians market their. Hope NZ have enough variety to supply my cravings! I am looking at shipping 50 x(2mx600X600) later next year with pump and sump filtres! I will sell half off to cover my shipping  ! they will be in the region of NZ$500 if anyone wants. Well hopefully I get Taks cheaper in NZ that will save me alot of trouble!! Hopefully I don't flood the markets as I did here!! I am a big fish giveaway person!! thats probly bad news to the "fishy" Bussiness people! Hee hee!! Nice to chat to you all!! Got to say buy to all my fishies now Waaa Waaa!!! as my time is running out!! Peace, love and an abundance of beautiful tropical fish to all (brings Joy) Ps: How I love my Fiance
