  1. Hi guys, I have 3 yellow dwarf gouramis and now I have what appears to be a few hundred babies in the floating plants at the top of my community tank being viciously defended by what I'm guessing is Dad. My tank is a Jewel Vision 450L and is home to our large Albino Pleco (the tank was bought for him when he outgrew the Vision 180! LOL - also in there are some neons, black phantom tetras, a blue dwarf gourami and a few koi swordtails, glowlights, and a few other small fish. Anyway, I'm wondering what if anything I should do - I think everyone is starting to get wind that there are babies up there and Dad is stoic but small. The babies are so tiny and I have no idea how to raise them if I did try. So far, my experience in raising babies is limited to guppies, gba's and peppered corys. Is it common or unusual for gouramis to breed in a community tank? Any comments, advice or info gratefully received.
  2. I travelled to Hastings last month for a dog show and was recommended Aqua Fever as a shop to visit by a mate who is a sales rep and sees them all. I was so intrigued by the large variety of plecos - I had no idea you could get so many different ones. The guy who owns it spent heaps of time with us and it was a very pleasant way to pass a few hours. I would definitely visit there again.
  3. Hi, thanks for the replies - I moved them into a net last night and this morning there seems to be a large number still there so will give it a go and see what happens, have nothing to lose. :-) I do have a couple of small tanks I can use for raising young in. I'm just fascinated that it all happened on the same day with both the bristlenoses and the corys. Cheers.
  4. Hi, Any advice please - my 120 litre tank houses guppies, 2 peppered corys, 2 bristlenoses, another little sucker type fish that never seems to grow, plus 1 platy. Today, I found that there were eggs inside the bristlenose cave and the male is guarding and fanning them which I read up about and is all good, then just now I have found eggs on all the sides of the glass - I'm thinking they must be from the corys because they are the only egg-layers left so, my question is, what should I do about the cory eggs? Talk about all go in this tank! LOL Other than the guppies, this is the first experience we've had with any of the fish breeding so all advice appreciated. cheers
