  1. Hello Paul welcome to the fishroom (bit late i know) if you want to have a look at a tank about the size you were talking about i have a 4ft by 2 by 2 at home if you want to have a look, not too many fish in it yet, but lots of plants. would be good to meet someone else local. as the others have said bigger is better and once set up is much easier on maintenance. this tank is half again the size of the old tank, bigger filter, more plants and much less maintenance. Mark
  2. Don't know if there are many breeders down here, believe a lot of people go to christchurch for stock, much bigger selection than here. Mark

  16. If you are losing fish there is a reason, you just have to find it. do you test the water for nitrates, nitrites ammonia ph, if so what are the levels. how old is the tank, what size is it, any other details you can tell us?? sorry if you have already posted this info, have not looked back Mark

    neons dying

personally i have always found neons to be quite hardy, do your best, follow pegasus's advice and there is a good chance you will save some.
  21. what type of light is it ? are you doing many water changes?
  22. as i understand it brown algae in low light, and green algae grows in high light. that said there has to be an imbalance in the tank causing the algae growth, eg high phosphate levels (having this problem myself with resulting green water)
  23. Organism is my favorite, shows how good a small shop can be. Also petworld and redwoods are good for a look, redwoods particularly for marine.
