    Convicts...

It was suggested that I use my convicts as feeder fish. Of course there is another fry in their tank this morning. I have never been interested in breeding them so I never really took interest. how do I make sure they reach maturity? Should I remove them from the parents now? What should I feed them? Should this thread be in the breeding section? LOL maybe I will runa a double. But any input would be appreciated.
  2. LOL... Yeah I call them rabbit fish... That's an idea....
  3. Can they be kept in my community tank until pregnant do you know?
  4. Wow. You guys electric bills in NZ are outrageous. I will never complain again..
  5. Actually i would prefer the 1ft fish (banded gourami) that you spoke of... I am not sure if I could accommodate 2 , 2ft+ fish. although there are like 3-4 inches now at the local fish store. Sorry about my measurements me and metric do not get along too well.
  6. Ive never tried breeding anything... Although my convicts didn't need any effort. Can I get help for that int the breeding forum?
  7. okay no... its the giant gourami... that was looks different and is much smaller @ max size.
  8. Well every time i search "gouramy" nothing is found only a correction "gourami" what do they look like.. The ones I am talking about look very similar to the dwarf gourami.
  9. Well Gourami I think.. but my local fish store doesn't use spell check so I am not sure gonna see if I can see some pics online to be sure.
  10. I have been using goldfish/Minnows... Guppies I have been seeing around seem too expensive to use and feeders.. They cost more than my neons.
  11. Can Dwarf or Giant Gouramis live in harmony with Convicts? :-?
  12. Ok thanks.. I just gooogled formulin.. It looks like a good option.. I'm gonna call my LFS and see if they carry it.
  13. Can I use either of these products prophylactically on my feeder fish. Or will the fish being exposed to it affect the Fish they are being fed to. I am hoping to avoid anything the feeders could be introducing to my tanks.
  14. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the small red fish inthis photo. Can someone please help me out?
  15. I am rather new to fish keeping myself. However I have fallen pretty hard and getting those around me hooked. That being said. I set up a 40 gallon tank for a friend of mine about 6 months or so ago. We decided on convicts. His nephew accidentally broke the tank (floor buffer) they were moved for emergency purposes to a smaller 10 gallon tank. Since being in there, (5Convicts) a pair keeps breeding.. the tank fills with baby convicts and then they just disappear. What should we do. So far all we've done is remove the other 3. How can we insure the survival of this fry. Scared to move them. (so tiny)..

Yeah... I've noticed the way they lay around at times... It was more so the falling that worried me...The second he would stop moving he would fall, and pretty hard.

    Sick Oscar

I dont know what is going on. My Oscar is about 6mos old.. It keeps sinking to the bottom of the tank. When I come in front of course it gets up with his normal tail wagging. It's appetite is not suffering. I don't know what to do. None of his tank mates are showing any similar symptoms. Up One Minute... Down the next..
