    The What's Up? thread.

I gotup at 5:30am this morning to help mum at the market. We got home at around 12:30 and then I did a few things and then slept for four hours
  2. Wow that's a lot I would of thought it would have been a bit less, maybe $30 or something. Oh well. Does anyone know where I can get silica sand in Christchurch? Or any other type of fine, pale sand that isn't abrasive or alters water parameters?
  3. Thanks guys I think I'll order some from HFF
  4. Does anyone know where to get some smooth silica sand from in Christchurch or Nelson? Apparently there is a sandblasting company here but I assume they will only sell the abrasive one. I'll go and check anyway. Otherwise I was thinking of ordering a 25kg bag from Hollywood Fish Farm because it's only $20, but stipping will be expensive though, which is why I want to try and get it closer. Petstuff 101 also sell it for $10 dearer, is it any better than the stuff at HFF? Thanks, Joe

Trust me, it is a waste of time when I am interested in doing other stuff, which I need credits from if I am to continue it in later years. Sure it sounds fun, but it could possibly ruin a few years of study that I need to set me up for uni. If I don't get those credits, I can't take those other subjects that I will need to do in year 11, 12 and 13. And I really don't want to do animation for a job. I would rather be a biologest or scientist of some sort or even a vet.

They have to fit everyone into a specific timetable. Another subject I am doing this year, which I also really don't want to do, but was forced to choose, is drama. However I already knew about that, although it still bugs me. And the fact that they are allowed to just randomly put me into a class I didn't choose really angers me. At Animation today the teacher gave us a course overview and it is really boring and will get me nowhere in life. Like you said Sophia, it's a waste of time when I could be doing something that I could actually be learning from. That art class I do is out of school. It is visual art - painting, sketching, figure drawing, photography etc. The Animation class at school is of no use to me whatsoever. The subjects I am supposed to be doing are Applied Science, Geography, History and Photoshop. I don't really mind if I miss out on Geography, but if it's any of the others I will be very angry.
  8. Wow I really want some of those !drool: :happy1:
  9. Yep that's lilaeopsis Not sure of the exact species though.

I love drinking... water  First day back at school was really good. I have a really cool science teacher. He loves biology and all that stuff, and studied an extremely rare and little-known weevil on Stephens Island called the ngaio weevil On the other hand I am also really annoyed because one of my subjects is Animation which I didn't choose, and according to my form teacher people can't change subjects at the start of the term like we could last year So I'm stuck with a useless subject, which means I miss out on one I chose so whatever that was I can't do it in later years because I need credits :an!gry

Once I was on rubbish juty at school last year  (I was trying to get away from some bullies, and wasn't where I was supposed to be with the class, so the teacher punished me  ) So I had to go round the school at lunch asking everyone for their rubbish, holding out a plastic shopping bag for them to put it in. Some kid offered me a smoke and I told him to put it in the bag and he got really mad at me :slfg:

    Fay's Reef Tank

Wow you have such lovely corals Fay I really like that little purple acropora
  13. Wow that's great Bilbo :happy2: You could probably fit a couple of pairs in there because they're pretty small - only 40mm SL

Mmm, in that case I will bake a cheesecake this afternoon
  15. Cool  That does look like pertensis. Hopefully someone will buy some and breed them. I for one want some, but I can't get every Apisto I want otherwise my tanks would be full and I won't have room for others that might be imported IMO it's best to wait for the ones that I really want to be imported, so I'm 100% happy with everything I have. The pertensis look nice and are a very tempting purchase, but I need to focus on breeding what I have at the moment rather than just buying everything I see. I want to wait until bitaeniata are imported again, or a hardy trifasciata gene So at this stage I won't be buying any more Apistos for the time being
  16. Sadly I don't have him any more. Those trifasciata were not very hardy at all. The ones that were imported a couple of years ago were much hardier, and nicer looking, but I lost those to a disease
  17. It's very easy to upload pics. Step 1. Create a Photobucket or ImageShack account or some other image-hosting website. Step 2. Download your image from your computer onto your chosen image-hosting website. Step 3. Click on the 'Post Reply' or 'Post New Topic' icon on the forums. Step 4. Click the Img icon at the top of the posting box. This should appear - (except without the space in the middle. For some reason it dissapeared when I posted it so I put the space in the middle which stopped it from dissapearing). Step 5. Copy and paste the URL of the image you have chosen in the middle of the Img code - Then the image will show up when you post Easy - only 5 steps, and very basic.

I wish it was that easy I have terrible social skills, and I have nothing in common with anyone else at my school (which isn't suprising as there are heaps of gangstas and sport fanatics). I get picked on a lot, and beaten up sometimes. Most kids just don't seem to like me purely because I am not interested in what they like (porn, fast cars, rugby, sport etc), and how I don't agree with their immature ways. I have a few friends, but they don't want to have anything to do with me outside of school. I have asked them if they want to hang out after school or in the weekend, or asked for their number, but they always turn me down. I'm just that geeky fish guy that reads books
  19. $90 for a pair would be more reasonable, $120 is a bit much IMO.
  20. No I haven't seen the pertensis. The shop here never has any Apistos. Jen did you see them when you went to pick up my fish?

Wow are you going to school on a different planet? As far as I know it is impossible for schools to be fun on this planet :dunno:

I start on Friday which is pretty stupid because then I have three more days of holiday. I have been trying to talk mum into letting me stay at home on Friday but she says I have to go
  23. They're really cool aren't they? !drool: I have $200 left and I'm not sure if I should get some more of these, or maybe some of the Super Reds or A. pertensis, or just leave it... I originally wanted the Super Reds but apparently there weren't any females so I decided on the Orange Flash. But I kind of still want to take a chance and see if I could get at least a pair of the SRs. My tank is 90x38x38cm. I have macmasteri in there but they will be going into the 140L blackwater tank once I get the substrate sorted out and when the bogwood arrives. Mmm, what to do...
