I have an old tank that has a drilled hole in the bottom. I want to repair this by siliconing a peice or glass over the hole.
For this his I need a piece of glass about 10cm by 10cm 6mm thick min.
Any ideas where I could pick something like this up
what is the best water test kit you can get from Anitmates or Hollywood (Hollywood is a bit out of my way but if the best kit is only available here i'll make the trip).
First step will be to test the water I think.
I don't have much room under my tank so wanted a stand alone one if possible. I don't want a hang on the back skimmer though.
Do you know of a stand alone one that's not hang on the back?
So before more filtration is purchased. I could look to do water changes twice a week. if that improves quality then that would be my main issue, Correct?
I got some neon's a few weeks ago and didn't quarantine them. Now all my fish are dying one by one.
There is no visible issues (white spot etc) and it's an assumption that the new fish brought in this issue. They are not being eaten as I've seen a few floating in the morning and they are all still eating.
What is the best way to treat my tank before getting new fish? Any ideas what the issue could be?
I have a planted aquarium and I want to improve the quality of water in my tank. I do water changes weekly (about 30-40%). I clean my filter wool regularly. Maybe not enough but I do it often. I cover the glass during day light hours.
There are 2 issues I want to solve.
1. How can I reduce algae in my tank. I get a lot.
2. How can I improve the water. Event after a clean it's still only 80-90% clean and after a couple of days it's not that great again. By the following weekend it's almost overdue for a clean.
What can I do?
I'm looking at building a large tank 2m L x .60m W x .90m H. I'll keep it freshwater due to the cost of marine salt. Don't mind tropical or cold water but want large fish in there. What affordable large fish can you access in New Zealand. Obviously I want to avoid keeping 10,000 neon's to fill this tank up. Really keen to get some ideas.
I have a spare tank (12 liters) and a spare combined heater and filter. Im pondering getting a LED light, coral sand, refractometer and putting a clownfish in there. i want this as a starter tank to get into marine. my three questions are 1. is this tank just too small? 2. do i need a powerhead or as my external filter is powerful enough will this do? 3 is a protein skimmer compulsory
Im contemplating building a cichild tank as ive seen some amazing fish in videos, pictures online. I went down to Hollywood here in Auckland a few weeks back and they only had 2 or 3 variety of fish for sale. Is there any good publc breaders or retailers out there in Auckland or NZ who ship?
I have a custom built tank that i need a stand and hood made for. are there any cabinet makers out there or can someone put me in contact with someone??
