  1. these free swimming worms swim with a twitching movement? i would say roundworms. planaria will be on the glass.
  2. Where can praziquantel be obtained from?
  3. Any suggestions on who can supply them or where these are available in New Zealand?
  4. They are cool fish. I used to have some years ago.
  5. There are a number of spelling and grammar errors starting with the word 'cheep'. What are you writing this for?
  6. Mine love Aquarian Algae Chips. I also feed them Courgette slices and sometimes Cucumber slices. I find that Cucumber clouds the water alot faster than Courgette.
  7. and some bits of toilet paper to stick on the cuts.
  8. Hey some people pay to have water like that. you get it for free
  9. Within a few months of discovery, galaxys are already in the pet trade. Too bad if they are a rare species and get wiped out in nature right?
  10. I have adopted a female bristlenose with a white patches at the base of her tail and on one side. I won a small tank set up on trademe and the fish was available (if wanted). When I picked up the tank, it was in a bad state. Gravel full of crap, 2 stalks of plant in an otherwise bare tank, a submersible filter with a foam pad that was disintergrating and jammed with crap. Oh and with the lighthood on it, no place for the poor fish to hide. The smell in the tank was not pleasant. Anyway after cleaning up the setup, replacing foam pads, providing some driftwood and good feeding, shes looking better after a week. the hhite patches are slowly going away. Next I will try and find a friend for her.
  11. Are there any good aquarium tank makers in Dunedin?
  12. I just rescued a female bristlenose (as far as i know) on trademe. The fish was optional (if wanted). When I picked up the tank, the water was really smelling, the submersible filter hadnt been cleaned in who knows how long (the filter foam was dark brown, covered in slime and crap and half dissolved away), only gravel and a small plant in the tank (no wood or hiding places). and fish looking faded, patchy and unhealthy. I spent the night cleaning the tank, replaced filter media, added aeration and driftwood and treating with melafix. She should be alot happier now.
  13. I think neons are way more attractive than cardinals.

Direct dip with methylene blue followed by melafix treatment?
  15. That's good advice Caryl. However some medications can be mixed safely if users know what they are doing.
  16. My neons are spawning right now in a 20 litre tank i'm medicating with furan 2, methylene blue, melafix, and white ich cure.Crazy buggers. It's awesome to watch
  17. How about some hairgrass, cherry leaf and dwarf hygrophila
  18. Hey guys Im a long time fish enthusiast, living in Dunedin now. With a lot of moving around havent had much of an opportunity to actively keep fish but I am interested in joining a club.
  19. I had a planted tank with no fish that showed signs of planaria, roundworm sp. and what looked like small fast moving copepod sp., approximately a month or so after initial setup. As well as partial water changes and filter maintenance every few days, adding a group of hungry neon tetras and a couple of Siamese algae eaters seems to have them under control to a point where I have difficulty in spotting them. I've seen the tetras eat the pests and I believe from a few accounts that SAE will also eat these worms (although I have not observed this yet). A healthy tank will always have critters you did not intend to have in there. A tank without them is TOO clean.
