  1. Do you have trouble with the dark colour coming out of the wood?? I once had some nice dark driftwood which I soaked for several months. It discoloured my water. I even tried boiling it to make it stop turning my water brown and that didn't help... any ideas?

I just weight down the cucumber with those lead weights that you normally use to weigh your plants down with. I saw in a book that you can feed fish potato, do you think that it would be raw or cooked potato? I also feed my fish a mixture of flakes, spirilina disks, frozen bloodworms and frozen brineshrimp if I can afford it. Also i feed them misquito larvae if I have been near a beach. Homemade food interests me tho.

Hi I was wondering if people might be able to suggest to me different types of veges and meat that my fish might like to eat. I already feed my bristlenoses cucumber and peas with the skin off. I also give them egg yolk occasionally. I have a community tank with the usual kinds of fish! Thanks
  5. Hi...Just wanted to let you know that daddy bristlenose is looking a lot better now... the mouldy appearence is gone. I moved him into a different tank where the stones are a different texture. Still don't really know why he went like that cause the other bristlenoses were uneffected. But I am pleased he is fit and well again
  6. I have that common run of the mill fruit salad stones and I guess its probably about 5cm thick. I'm using a power filter. Its not an undergravel filter. So should I keep syphoning each week or not? :-?
  7. I know what you mean by patchyness... that happens sometimes when they are stressed... he seems to be moving around well and eating well... the other bristlenoses in the tank look ok. Maybe if no one has any more suggestions I will just keep an eye on it and let you know if it recovers or not!
  8. its there all the time
  9. Yeah I syphon it once a week.... I've tested the water and it seems ok too
  10. I have a male bristlenose...its probably about 4 years old now... being my only living original fish, I am quite fond of it. But over the last few days I have noticed that when it sucks on the glass its tummy looks mouldy, it looks like it has changed texture and colour on his tummy. It doesn't look normal Any ideas?

    hi hi :)

Hi I'm Liz... I've been keeping Tropical fish for about 2 years now... I attend the Kapi Mana fish club. In my tank I have...(excuse the common names).. Golden honey, neon blue dwarf, and some orange dwarf gouramis.. moonlight gouramis, Long-finned leopard danios.. (I have bred these) Guppies and Bristlenose catfish (bred both of those too) Neons, Golden Neons, A silver shark, A big Pleco, and some Panda catfish I have a special interest in breeding fish, so if anyone has any hints or suggestions for me to try with the fish I havn't bred before please sing out!!
  13. hi biziboy.. I am interested in breeding them also. How did you get them to spawn in the first place? did you have a planted tank? did you just have one male and one female in the tank at the time??
