  1. We feed our yellows, cichlid pellets, JBL Nova rift sticks, spirulina flakes as well as a cucumber, zucchini slices. Supplemented by brine shrimp now and then as well as Seriously green tucker, that has small crustaceans and insect larvae not sure what kind of crustaceans or insect larvae , but the yellows are fine and have been fed that from young. They breed very well and seem happy! ( The Male's are that's for sure) LOL
  2. Its a Cobalt blue cichlid, I removed the male from the tank after spawning to leave her in the tank with other fish that is smaller than her. I think what I saw this morning is that it might be white spot developing in the tank as we noticed that other fish is starting to scrape them self. How would I tread a holding female that is holding with white spot?? :-?
  3. I have a problem with one of my malawi cichlids, noticed she was holding 4 day's ago, and today she is acting if there is a irritation in the water, she is shaking and swaying as if she is trying to swim but stays in one place, she does not do this all the time but often. It is as if she is having a Fishy fit, No body damage to her but from a few nips that the male has caused before breeding. I have tested the water and found no fault to the water but from water hardness in the high 20's. The other fish in the same tank seems to be all OK, including other holding females. It is the first time she is holding as well and is about 9cm in size. I have recently started to use AQUA Plus+ tap water conditioner, my other fish and tanks are all OK. I do not want to loose this fish neither the fry she is gonna to have. Please does anyone have any idea why she is behaving this way??
  4. Once they have spawned for the first time, and hold sucsesfully they are virtually unstoppable. Congrats, How big are they ?
  5. Was fine and eating, got himself caught in between tank glass and castle ornament during the night turned him around and secured him just wandering if there was anything else we could do for him!!

There is 31 small fry of 1cm to 1.5 cm from one breed 9 x small fry of 2cm to 2.5 cm And female holding. ??? ( not selling Female) All in bright colors. If someone want some yellows, make me an offer.
  8. I have been wondering if some of you can give some info what I can do. I am moving house and need to move my fish and tanks along. but to move a whole house I will not have much time to move and to setup all tanks. I do not have many tanks. My question is will I be able to place all my Malawi's and tropheus in one tank for a few weeks. Malawi cichlids from 1cm to 10cm and tropheus cichlids of 5cm. Approx 50+ Malawi's ( Electric Yellows) and females holding. 15 x tropheus ( 5cm 3x Cobalt blue's ( 8cm + Tank is aproxly 5 foot tank. 500 Ltrs
  9. Crushed up spirulina flakes & Brine shrimp flakes are good to feed to small fish.
  10. I've got Electric yellows (labs) and Red zebras in the same tank?? Only thing I want to know is, would they interbred or not ???? I though they would not but I have just been told they would. Witch is true and why?? :-?
  11. Mabunas are a very good choice. I use aragonite and coral rocks, lots of rocks, It Keeps the water hardness just where you would like it, without doing much to it. It works for me and would recommend as a first choice.
  12. Check and see if this helps. http://www.bigskycichlids.com/Mslim_compactx.htm
  13. I have a 200 Ltr tank with a 540ltr per hr internal filter and a 300ltr per hr external filter. I also have 8 electric yellows and 4 zebras. 5 small albino malawi's, 4 bristlenose in the tank al sizes from 3cm to 12cm. I do a 30% Water change once every two weeks. My nitrite, nitrate, pH, gh, kh is always OK. and my fish are all OK and breeding OK. My Q is, do we need all these filters or am I just on the lucky side.
