Exactly took our so called Kadango male in to lps and the guy helping us was not shy to tell us some of his fish were in the tanks for sale as etc are actually hybrids from his tank at home . But that's not all, bought some fish from a FNZAS member here in Auckland in the week and the condition of the fish were shocking not to mention 2 of the fish were something completely different They were sold to this individual by Another member Very disappointed once again Funny thing is the partner works at a lps but not once did it strike the both of them that the fish were not what they were suppose to be !! This is how people like us with true passion get riped of when you buy a kind of fish or something you know and get there and its Hybrids SHOCKING :evil: :evil: :evil:

OOA Of particular interest is that the "Cobue" strain is very elongated compared to the "Kadango" strain. It is all on the official Malawi CD, check it out for yourself. How and where do I purchase the Cd (official Malawi CD), would very much like to broaden my knowledge ??

Congrats If conditions are OK, she will hold again in 3 to 4 weeks, but the fry will be less next time, I found with all our females holding for the first time had more the first time then the second time. After more and more have a large lady that almost always holds 31 fry every 3 weeks :lol:

Just an update, fish is gone and can be seen at Jansens display tank in Mt Eden, So I got a good male now that looks different and should be with these red females we have. I still have the silver female I don't want so if any one wants it, it is now up for grabs. Thanks for the help ( Frenchy ) and others, Please in the future, if any fish is a hybrid don't pass it on. As I understand that was ryanjury fish to start with. (I Am Not Pickin on you ) As I can see we all want good fish and still we pass poor quality fish on for a dollar or two. And last of all, none of the fish got worms. Thank you.

The male has been removed from the breeding tank into a another tank, Yes I got a bid wired up cause I hear all kinds of things about the fish is a hybrids, they got worms and every one got to say that but not anyone till now shows what it should look like and what I need to know, I do not want to breed with hybrids neither interbreeding. so I bought some young ones from Wellington and will grow them out and replace the male once I can see how the male looks like. These females I got here, what about them, can I still use then If I get a good male. I would like any of you that is in my area to come and have a look at these fish as the pictures that has been taken by me are not good and they are still misleading. Lets keep this topic like any other topic should be kept on the track and help me out the way should be done. I also would like to see more pictures of the Red Kanandos in all of yours tank that I can look at some more. I do not want pictures from the Internet because I have look at them all. And they are all hybrids just like mine when, I want to look at the fish in the tank and not the picture that on this topic. Its the same male in two different times taken and two different angles. It is very confusing.

now back to my Q, witch female with this male??

Female in at top in the earlier post are 9cm at size and the male at 10cm, still coulering up, I did a search on peacocks and kadangos and do not find any peacocks to mach up with the fish I have bought, the male looks the same as in the picture of this link down in this post. The pictures I have taken is misleading and not great. the females in the bottom pictures of earier post are only at 7cm but tried hard to get a better picturs but no luck. here are some to look at. Anyone in my area are more than welcome to come and look at the fish and have a look. pm me if would like to view. Thanks for the help.

Just an update on my holding cichlid, I did a white spot treatment and there was no changes to the holding female, shaking her head if she is under stress, fishy fit, kept a Eye on her over the last two weeks, no changes on the strange behavior and decided this morning I will remove the little fry. And what I found was a little aragonite stone in her mouth with the fry, fry all free swimming and OK. :roll: Has anyone had this happen before??

Sad to see your fish look a bit unhappy, hope you can get to the problem and fix him up! We went a Major hunt to locate a big enough male for our females. Not one of the lfs in Auckland, Hamilton, or Rotorua had any Cobalt's available for the past year. Managed to get one from, Palmerston North just a month ago . He is stunning and is doing his job very well. Best of luck sure you don't want to lose him !! :oops: :oops:
